    From Gaming-Age:

Quote:Following up on our earlier article, Microsoft has released new information on their revised Xbox Live pricing.
The more flexible pricing plan includes a planned free trial period, and a more expensive basic starter kit. Subscribers will have the option of a $5.99 monthly fee in North America as of this fall. A one-year renewal or new subscription will be $49.99, while the Starter Kit, which includes the voice headset and some bundled items, will sell for $69.99, a $20 increase from the current $49.99 price.

The headset will also available as a stand-alone item, for $29.99.

    -- Paul Bryant

Oh to hell with that. I'll just stick to my PC for online games. And I assume that the $70 includes the one-year subscribtion, although they make it seem like it's seperate in that article.

That stinks for new buyers... but it is good new that you'll be able to resubscribe for $50.

Yeah, a yearly fee of $50 is something I can manage. It's what I figured they would do anyway. What's the matter OB1? Did you expect them to lower the price? Just go out and buy a $50 kit right now before the price goes up. Oh, keep in mind the new kit now comes with a full version of a game, Tetris Worlds, so you can see why they increased the price.

I'm not gonna get it now because there's nothing worth paying $100 for.

    Um, $100, where?

You may have misread it. They didn't say the headset would ONLY be sold seperatly. They just said it is now ALSO sold seperatly. The headset still comes with the now $70 kit (as well as a full game, as opposed to VERY limited demos that came with my first kit). I say it's still worth it. It's also still just $50 yearly as they very well have indicated.

    $50 for a starter kit (now) and $50 for a game = $100.

Ah, so you are saying it was always too much to pay for. Oh well. I would have thought you would already have an XBox Live capable multiplayer game by now even without that being your motivation. I myself got Mech Assault before getting the Live starter kit. Still, I can see why none of the multiplayer games so far have been quite good enough to make it seem worth it. I guess getting Steel Battallion Online is out of the question :D. Well, after Perfect Dark Zero comes out, I'm sure even without multiplayer it's certainly worth your money on it's own. Then, you will inevitebly be drawn to the starter kit (I'll be sure of that by braggin' about how awesome I am (though I will likely suck horribly, but that's why it's called goating) and getting you to want to shut me up, which you will, but only to proove this prediction you will forget about by that time correct), and then you will see, it's not $100, just two easy payments of $50, totally $100, meaning it's JUST $100.

None of the current X-Box Live games even slightly interest me. I might get it when something worthwhile comes out, like PD Zero in 2007.

Completely understood. Mechassault isn't for everyone. I myself only got it because my friend was always raving about it and for the chance to dethrone the Penny Arcade Mech King, who WILL beat my arse, he's not even kidding, but then I'll just go back over and over, like some idiot, and when the police say "he'll only do this to you again", I'll be like "not this time, for I am INVINCIBLE!", and then I'll be doomed.

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think it would be easier just to provide you with a link.

    http://www.gamespyarcade.com/tunnel/

Go there, it should explain everything. That's where I found all the info I needed to get it all working.

Um, work? If you already have a hub in your house, and a computer, and a broadband connection, what could possibly be the problem? Hook your Xbox to the hub, install the tunnel software, and just use your computer to find a match, then play the match!
