Tuesday, the 11th book in the Wheel of Time series, Knife of Dreams, will be released.

I've been re-reading the series, my third time doing so. I started at the beginning of September and I am almost finished with Path of Daggers right now. This time I've kept a much closer eye and took my time, and even to this point, I'm riveted. I have a far greater appreciation for Jordan's storytelling ability, even if his descriptive talents are sort of lacking.

So, I know there are a few WOT fans here, and I think it'd be nice to have this forum WOT themed for a little while.

I still need to finish reading 10 and I'm in something of a book-reading slump right now...

Wait, a knife of DREAMS? Knives equal VIOLENCE! What possible dream could a knife offer aside from nightmares? Perhaps some sort of cooking dream?

Knives are tools, they can be used to construct as well as to kill. Ask the Aiel, who will use any weapon except one made with the express purpose of killing men (swords, for example).

You could use it to prepare a salad, which isn't really killing unless you're a plant's rights activist.

You can use it for food preparation, whittling, prying, shaving, and lots of other things that have nothing to do with violence.

I bought KoD today. The Prologue is almost a hundred pages long... I skipped some of the first chapter, as an except was released online some time ago and I read it to death already. It looks like the Forsaken, especially Semirhage, are far more active now than ever before. The shit's about to hit the fan, boys and girls.

So is his "it'll end in another couple books" thing actually beginning to look feasible, given that he's sure to leave half of the storylines at least semi-unclear at the end?

I'm about 200 pages in so far, and there's been a LOT going on. There's been no trace of Rand so far though, save for other people mentioning him. I've heard rumors that he is engaged in a massive fight with Semirhage later on, and that excites me a great deal.

I do have to say that it most certainly looks like one of the most massive threads may come to a head very soon, that being the dissolution of the White Tower. But I think I need to go back and re-read Book 10 some more because I only read it once when the book first came out, and I'm definitely missing some references.

Oh, and there is a scene involving the Forsaken early in this book that contains some very open lesbianism, which I can't say I expected.

I want it... but I don't like buying hardcover books, given that the content is identical to paperbacks and they cost so much more...

I always get hardbacks if I can afford to. I have books 6-11 in hardback so far.

I bought it right away, and was tearing through it staying up way to late and enjoying the book immensely. Then I got to Elayne's part of the story. That was about a month ago. I'm still there.

I hate reading about Elayne and Birgitte and Aviendha and all the Sea Folk Windfinders and the Kin and the Aes Sedai and fool nobles. And that is ALL that goes on in those chapters. In the mean time I re-read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe again. But that only took a few hours.
