Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was just released in Japan this friday and now is available with english subtitles online. I recommend using a bittorrent program to download it.

It's a pretty goddamn tight tight movie, guys. I think all you FFVII jockeys will LOVE this movie. I hate RPGs and I loved it. The animation is stunningly.

I have it already, but I also plan on buying it when it comes out on DVD here. No harm, no foul.

It's an awesome movie, though mostly for the incredible special effects/action and the nostalgia factor of seeing all the FF7 characters again. But really if you have the chance to see it do so, you won't regret it I think.

I tried downloading it but I didn't get the whole thing. I heard it was freakin' awesome too, and the person I heard it from was expecting it to truly blow.

Without spoiling anything, does it make a great addition to the story or is this essentially like every Disney movie sequel, in that it's best to pretend it never even happened?

It makes a great addition to the story because it doesn't alter the status quo of any character in a permanent way. Like in comicbooks how between every 6 issue story arc there is a stand alone issue. This is that stand alone issue. This is NOT a disney sequel, so you can sigh.

I cannot stress how visually beautiful this movie is. The character movement is so fluid and there is so much depth to the scenery. Truely a stunning piece of art.

I would like to comment on the story, and without giving to much away. It left me wanting more. And that is a good thing.

The story is decent, nothing great, but nothing about the characters or the prevoius story are altered in any meaningful way. In other words, if you liked FF7 you will more than likely enjoy this movie immensely.

When it's due for American release? I hope the American voices don't suck. If they're Kingdom Hearts quality, then I'll be fine.

Interesting, but if they didn't do a single thing to the characters, that means Sephiroth is still evil, and nothing at all happened that couldn't just be done without. That's a bit of a shame that...

I was actually sort of hoping this was some tale of Sephiroth's quest for redemption. I saw some trailor some time ago and I think I remember when Sephiroth, or someone that looked sorta like him, happened to show up someone said "I'm just looking for forgiveness". Oh well.

I sure hope they don't drag it on and on and on. I really don't have a problem with characters changing or anything, it's just that they better do it in a good way. For example, if you take a somber and shy summoner on a quest to save the world who eventually has to shirk everything she believed in to do so, and then make her a pop singer, you have made a terrible stanank.

At the other extreme, you have super heroes, that SEEM to change but never really do. For example, Super Man, who every now and again gets all "deep in thought" about whether or not what he's doing is right, but eventually he just snaps out of it one way or another, says "I'm going to do things a little different now" and then does everything exactly the same. So, you end up with comic books storyline arcs that are more like straight lines stretched to the breaking point across decades.

Well those red boxes are taunting me, so I'll be waiting for that DVD's release now.

It is a bit of a shame that it was Spirits Within that made it to theaters, the Final Fantasy that thought to immitate US style action films of all things. What sort of delusions do the Japanese people have that make them think there's any depth or purpose at all to such movies?

The odd thing is it wasn't but a few months ago that Sqeenix announced a simultaneous release date in both America and Japan.

November, eh? That's not too long. *opens ChristmasList.doc and adds "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children"*
