Maybe should have mentioned this a couple of days ago, but oh well. Anyway, Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst, the PC version of PSO, is in open beta... anyone who wants (and sets up a free account) can play, until June 10. Then it becomes pay-to-play with a monthly fee (the client is free, they make money from the fee...)... yeah, I won't be playing once that happens, but it's completely free right now, so I have been for a few days...

Zzzz... get Guild Wars... not the worst game ever, but repetitive beyond belief...

Um, download it anyway though, because it's got a 150MB 3 hour 40 minuite ogg soundtrack (download the game, install it, copy out the music folder (in the data folder), then delete the game, because beta is over and they want a monthly fee. Which is moronic, because this game would barely be worth a $20 one-time payment, much less $8/month (though it is free to download, that doesn't help much.)...). Including a bunch of vocal songs... hey, it's even got the Sonic Adventure 2 level 1 song! YAY! :D ... The actual ingame music portions of the soundtrack are much better, if you like videogame music, that is. I do, anyway. I just wanted to mention it because I was pretty surprised at how long this soundtrack is... and the explanation is that it seems to include a whole bunch of vocal songs, presumably from various Sega games, that the game doesn't seem to actually use ingame... hey, I won't complain... I like videogame soundtracks (I know, getting mp3s (or oggs, in this case) of songs from Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't exactly one of my goals in life, but when offered it, how can I refuse?

If only all PC games were this kind... I've found that a lot of my PC games actually do have usable soundtracks (either on the disk in a playable format or as CD audio you can rip), but a lot also don't...
