Nearing the last day of the year, many websites have their release lists, before-the-New-Year previews, and all that stuff. Doing some digging around, the status of Resident Evil 4 has been reasserted.

GameInformer reports that Resident Evil 4 has supposedly been retooled and is currently not a GameCube exclusive any longer. This has been a popular rumor on the streets for a while, but it's becoming more popular -- whether or not this is true shall be reported sometime in the not-so-distant future. Any further word on this, you guarantee Nintendojo will be on it. (ans)

It's certaintly a possiblity given how quite Capcom has been about it lately, but I think it's unlikely.

I think a deal was struck between them. Capcom would have to rename it to "Resident Evil: Not part of the main series so we can port it wherever we wish" or something like that to be able to do that. Besides, GameInformer is karp.

Heh... Planet Gamecube and IGN ran articles saying Capcom said RE4 was still exclusive and blasted the recent rumors. But I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom decided not to make it exclusive, but perhaps there was a deal with Nintendo to make it exclusive so they can't just break it off.

On the other hand, RE series has never captivated me. I thought it sucked on the PSX, and when it was remade the GC, I thought maybe they had fixed those terrible controls and such... apparently not, it still sucked ! No wonder Capcom is in trouble.
