The pictures are amazing. Arguably the best pics I've seen. But certainly not 3x better than any PS2 game, IMO. And Rogue Leader still challenges this, IMO.

Do you know how many FPS it's running at?

Like I said all along, OB1, it was just the trailer that I saw (dated December 12) that wasn't very impressive.

I'm not going to bother responding to any of your comments anymore. It's like talking to a Babbage's clerk.

So... you don't know how many FPS it's running at?

And it's really not that complicated.

    Picture = impressive

    Old video = less so

Sure, Private Hudson is becoming a PS2 damage control bot, but that doesn't mean that you have to be equally immature and cover your e-ears with your e-hands. I downloaded the most recent movie on IGNXbox (around January 30th, 2002), and it looks very pretty. Not as pretty as the stills, but still very vivid. The engine really shines when the entire environment is on display, as closeups tend to reveal some flaws in the character models that Leon lacks. The special effects are amazing, but the environment where most of those effects took place was kind of bland. Have you seen this quicktime yet?

    I was kidding, Sherlock.

And yes I've seen the videos. The models aren't anything special because of the huge environments, and the indoor areas don't look as good as the outdoor ones. And they don't even show any of the cool-lloking environs in those movies.

I have no idea what the framerate is.

    Aww :(

I actually thought the character models were very good, particularly considering the size of the environment. They obviously consist of a lot of polygons. Their details are a little low, though.

Hudson doesn't hate any game company, he just likes the PS2 more. So he's defending it. I do the same thing with Nintendo, so I guess I sound as much like an idiot as he does. :D

And yeah those are awesome screens. PS2 couldn't do it without alot of tricks to hide loading times since you couldn't have all of that at one time on PS2. But it could still look as pretty. However, and call me a liar if you want, the GC could not only do everything in those XBox screens, but make it look even better. It's all in how well the CPU is handled with the graphics and RAM. At school we had Panzer Dragoon Orta running on Gamecube hardware and there wasn't a single drop in frame rate or smoothness, I heard some of the guys even got a 2 player split screen working on it without a problem (but the 2nd player couldn't shoot anything or the game would freeze). XBox couldn't do the split screen without dropping one of them in to teens of fps.

It makes me wonder if developers just dont give a shit when they dev a GC game. It's possibilities are virually endless. They even got the GC to send video to the GBA so you could play Metroid Prime on it (with about $1500 of extra hardware). The people I was working with said they can get the cost down to about 150 out of pocket, so their proposing the idea to different companies. It worked with PS2 and XBox as well, but who cares. :D So if we found this shit out ourselves, i'm sure Nintendo did too... so what's up with them? They could litteraly create a game that would make XBox look like last gens hardware. I dont get Nintendo's marketing where they release a wave games (3 games) with nice graphics then spend a year without any upgrades in the graphics, then send another wave out with updated graphics and continue the process, why not show what it can do NOW then see if devs can even improve upon it? bah

anyway.... I have no idea what this thread is about....Erm

    Oh yeah terrible sales figures.

Yup, for the first time ever, Nintendo is #3.

Now ask me if I care. If you love video games, you should have a Gamecube, it's that simple boys and girls. Sales shmales, bring on the Zelda Goodness Love!
