    From spong.com:

Quote:As the dust settles on Nintendo's E3 showing every year, the legions of fanboys, sneaking in under the age-old "CEO of some company" ruse, find that as their heart rates drop back to normal, a moment is afforded to reflect upon what they've just played.

This process takes usually about a week.

Then it's time to dissect what was seen without that "oh-my-god-oh-my-god" rose tint getting in the way.

And this year, following the frenzy of joy that greeted Mario Kart Double Dash for GameCube, several things came to light. Namely, that the game was quite slow, and that the all-important, hop-into-powerslide function was ominously missing.

Well there's good news folks, as Nintendo America has today confirmed to us that the game, when released later this year, will be "considerably faster, and with the powerslide function included."

Good news we're sure you'll agree.

Whew, that's a relief! I was reall worried about those two things. Now let's just hope that spong.com didn't pull this out of their asses like they do with some of their news stories.

Well it's awesome that it'll go faster (woo-hoo!), but what the hell is power sliding?

You don't know what power-sliding is?!

Basically what power-sliding is is tapping the brake while you have the accelorator down to cause you to slide around a corner without as much of a loss in speed as braking before the turn.

In this case, you don't use the breaks to powerslide, you use that half inch jump button (the thing that makes the kart jump half your height Darunia). The whole purpose of the jump is so that you will jump while turning, land at an angle, and then while screeching along, attempt to force the smoke trails to become red Z's, then a small mini-mushroom boost of sorts will occur, and you will have the advantage. This is the ONLY way to unlock the 3 ghosts on the 3 ghost tracks in MK64, and you need to use them on every turn (and even during slightly curved straight-aways) to beat those ghosts once unlocked.

IGN has some new impressions on Double Dash. Fran says that while he heard it was supposed to be faster and include the powerslide, the version recently shown was identical to the E3 demo. That probably just means that Nintendo is working on the new features but hasn't finished yet.

Yeah I read those impressions. I really hope that wasn't the "new and improved" version NOA was talking about.

It better be improved... because for racing games, faster is ALWAYS better!

At least in my opinion, it is... :)

I also hope that they fix Mario Golf's camera before release. The demo I played was nearly unplayable thanks to the shitty camera.
