Well, not so much appear in it, more like get shot by Snake and never be seen or heard from again, but hey, something is better than nothing! Konami is holding a similar contest as they did for MGS2, where random names are selected to appear on enemy soldiers dogtags. You can apply here. I signed up, I probably won't get picked, but hey, it's worth a shot, right? Good luck!
The Earthworker Race has ended.  Everybody wins.

I was going to sign up for the original MGS2 dogtag thing but when they asked for my blood type I actually wanted to find out, but never got around to doing it so I forgot about the whole thing.

Yeah, I also have no clue what my blood type is... not that I'd enter that contest...

Your blood is IN you, right near the brain, and you don't even know EVERY SINGLE DETAIL about it?! What's wrong with you?!

Mine's the rare blood type ABXYZ.

And you might not even die! Snake at least can't kill ya until you shake off the tag in fear, and if he's going for the best rank, he can't kill anyone, so you might just get knocked out and locked in a locker!

You could probably just make something up for your blood type... the reason they ask is because your blood type supposedly tells what your personality is like.

So... would having blood type ABXYZ mean I'm a schizo?

Sometimes Japanese customs scare me... Where did such a superstition come from anyway? I mean, weren't blood types discovered AFTER humanity finally evolved past making up new stuff like that? *recalls various myths like humans supposedly using only 10% of their brain, even though not once has a doctor ever said "You have severe brain damage, but fortunatly it was only in the 90% of the brain you don't use."* Oh, never mind...

I thought that, then I thought that if its supposedly military, would they want that for blood transfusions? Or is it just "personality" (how blood type could possibly effect personality makes no sense to me, but some people believe it... like astrology...)?

Yeah, pretty much stupid. I wonder what the astrologists would think if I did what I always wanted to do, blow up Jupiter! Would all those aligned to Jupiter suddenly die? Since I KNOW that astrology is outright wrong, I'm willing to take that chance :D.

To be honest, I was pretty much positive that blood type on dog tags WAS for transfusion purposes, should someone be unable to speak (as in, unconcious) but still alive when found on the battlefield by a medic team.

But... but... all those horiscopes would be wrong, suddenly! Wouldn't that be awful!

And yeah, I think it is for transfusions... it does make sense.

The characters in MGS2 didn't have different personalities. I suppose that real dog tags have your blood type on them, in case you get hurt during battle and the doctors need to know your blood type. I dunno.

they don't have personalities? not even slightly different ones? like, certain people aren't more likely to put their hands up, where others would call for backup or something? i guess i don't know what i'm talking about, but i thought that that was possible.

Sure its possible, but most developers don't have the time to give guards individual AI... :)

Actually, they do, but I think OB1 thought you meant something drasticly different. Yes, some of them are real tough guys and are willing to jump you the second you drop your guard, while others are wimps who shake out stuff the second you point your gun at them. That's about it though, nothing more advanced than minor easily adjustable personality traits like that, and blood types varied even among "same persona" type soldiers. Being that I've seen real dog tags, which do in fact have blood type on them (and are actually surprisingly weak feeling, like I could break them just by looking at them wrong), I'm pretty much certain that's there for the medical attention thing.
