They're back, and they are currently selling 32 of their old games in a $20 bunduru. It'll be a much higher price starting tomorrow. Frankly, it sounded like a good deal to me as I generally only ever owned the shareware versions of any of these, so playing the other two chapters of a lot of these will be pretty fun.

Yeah, I'm probably going to get it too. I own the full versions of many of the games -- I've got the full versions of Keens 1-5 (and also Aliens Ate My Baby Sitter, but that's not available anymore for rights reasons), Blake Stone 1 and 2, Wolf 3D, RoTT, Death Rally, Realms of Chaos, Duke Nukems 1, 2, and 3D, Shadow Warrior (the original one), Terminal Velocity, and Raptor, and of course I've had their freeware games for pretty much since they were released, but there are enough games in the pack I don't own to make it worth the $20 anyway. I particularly want Wacky Wheels, Secret Agent, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, and Crystal Caves. Oh, and having Math and World Rescue would be kind of neat, even if they're obviously for kids. :)

(Of those Apogee/3DR games I have, Keen 1-3 I have the registered (mail order) floppy version of. Raptor I have the retail floppy disk version of, from a store. Same for Aliens ate my baby sitter, of course. Death Rally I have a retail CD copy of. Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad, and Duke 3D Atomic Edition I got used on CDs (in their jewelcases, but with no box). Duke Nukem 2 and Terminal Velocity I got from PC Gamer's Classic Game Collection disc, on one of their magazine discs in 2000. The rest of the games, plus second copies of Keens 1-3 and Duke 2 because they sell them in packs so I had to get some games I have in order to get others I didn't, I have digital-download copies of.)

So yeah, it's a good collection. You do need to do some work, though -- for some idiotic reason they default the dosbox settings to fullscreen-stretched, and each game has a separate dosbox file, so I now need to go modify all ~30 games to play with the correct aspect ratio. Ugh! Why in the WORLD would anyone play games stretched? It looks so awful! (I know, I know people who play games stretched. It looks bad.)

Also, it's disappointing that it's missing a few of Apogee's freeware games, and they aren't available on the website now either, since they got this all-new site (except for the forum, which is the same as ever, just with some new forum categories). I know it's been commented on there, but put the two trivia games, Dark Ages, and Xenophage back up! Dark Ages particularly has always been one of my favorites, and with the right dosbox settings you CAN get it to work... you just need to limit dosbox to, like, under 200 cycles, or something like that.

It's been way too long since Dosbox updated. I wonder what happened to development there?

Good question! Why has it been years since the last DOSBox update?
