    Among other things.

This fellow wants to eliminate the property tax (the idea being a sound one I suppose, to encourage land ownership). Of course, the government needs a means of supporting it's own existance, so where to get replacement funds? Of course, tax the things "we" don't want while not taxing things "we" do want.

I believe his decisions on what "we" think are unwanted are a little arbitrary, however I must add that there's the whole issue as to whether this would actually benefit the state. Unfortunatly I can't really think of a logical reason why it wouldn't if the decided "unwanted" things to be taxed were agreed upon by the public and didn't infringe on the rights of the minority in the process. Still, something seems "off". Is it just in my head or is there a good logical reason why I should be against/for this sort of thing (in concept rather than execution)?

I guess I'll start buying my games in Oklahoma. Or online.

That's ghey. Good thing I buy most of my video games online anyway... that, and I don't live very close to Texas.

"Locke, a rancher and builder from Corpus Christi, favors a 50% tax on violent games, as well as a $10,000 tax per abortion and a 10% levy on sweetened soft drinks".

hahaha this guy obviously is not human. Texas is the country's 'fattest' state and sweetened soft drinks are among the biggest concern of the recent state-wide weight gain, you dont get people to slim down by taxing them, just as you dont get people to quit smoking by taxing them. 10 grand for an abortion plus doctor fees (already in the thousands?)? This guy is from 1953. Someone please kill him.

"The candidate told the Globe News he would create a 10-member panel to determine which games are violent. Taxes would then be levied against game publishers. The same board would also decide whether video game ads portrayed violence."

lmao, so EVERY GAME then? 10 people, probably picked by him, to review every game that comes out for any violence it might have or might elude to. Now let's keep something in mind, even E rated games have a warning of 'Mild cartoon violence' which is the same as saying Tom and Jerry is mild cartoon violence ***even Mario Sunshine says mild cartoon violence***. Jesus. Fucking CALVIN AND HOBBES has mild cartoon violence.

Seriously, someone kill him please, I can supply the weapons. Apparently Texans themselves are a smart bunch, he's not favoring well right now at all. I can see that he's trying to implement good morals but the execution is completely wrong.

So I guess that means a tax on every video game that doesn't contain Barney, Elmo, or the Teletubbies.

Indeed. Poor success rate. Testing testing testing. No one has respect, or desire, for scientific testing of government policy to see if they actually have the intended effect.
