    Actually the other avatar I used to have was really cool, I'd had it for a long time though. But, yes, the one I have now is ultimately supreme.

    Then why do all the materials about the show specifically not refer to the main character by any gender-specific terms? :)

    Numerous reviews of the series also remark on how the gender of the main character is intentionally unclear.

    If you watch episode 4 it seems to make it clear, but small clues throughout the rest of the series make things a bit confusing on that point. Most people agree that the only really important detail about Kino is that Kino is a traveler.

    Okay then, what's this show about? Traveler... and that's it? What, so you just watch the person riding trains the entire time? Are there wacky adventures, or what? Explain!

    No, there's no riding of trains in the entire series, although half of an episode is about 3 different people working on a train track. Kino rides a motocycle...a talking motocycle named Hermes. Wacky adventures? No, except maybe in the sence that they aren't quite normal. Kino travels from country to country and always stays in each place for only three days. It's a hard series to explain accurately since it's unlike just about anything I've ever seen before. It's kind of like "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" in that it is a combination of a journey, philosophy, and the human condition, if that makes any sense.

    Sounds strange and unique... exactly what I'd expect from the maker of the strange-and-unique (and really awesome!) serieses Serial Experiments Lain and Haibane Renmei. :)

    It was Tomokazu Tokoro that made Haibane Renmei, not Ryutaro Nakamura. Though I have heard that it is similar in some ways to his works.

    The style definitely looks similar...

    Haibane Renmei was great. It's weird that it hasn't even been liscenced in the US... too bad, I'd say that it's just as good as Lain (though quite different of course).

    Because mainstream retailers hardly ever stock the really good animes. It's a fact. Also, it's likely that Haibane Renmei was only released in small quantities.

    I could just use your tactic, ABF, and simply say "Why" when you tell me to see this, but that would be RUDE and since I'm such a nice person I'll simply say that in order for me to see it it would cost me vast quantities of money that I need to spend on other things.
