Quote:The future of the UK developer looked secure when it sealed the deal for the rights to this years Catwoman -the abysmal game based on the abysmal movie, the game was shunned by consumers, mainly because it was terrible and also because the movie was... well, terrible too. Bad game + bad sales = bad news for any developer. It's a simple equation that time and time again has proved the downfall of many a developing studio. This is even more of a sad story as Argonaut were for many yearsconsidered to be at the forefront of the booming UK gaming industry along with much larger studios such as Lionhead.

It's not all doom and gloom though, as it's reported that every effort is being made to keep the individual teams and their projects. Recent crimes against good gaming aside, it would be a shame to lose one of the few UK based developing studios that remain.

And the badness of the Catwoman movie has some far reaching effects...

Pfft, who cares about the United Kingdom anyway? Let Rare survive and all (the United Kingdom includes England right?, and England and Brittain are synonemous, right?, and "toad in the hole" is a phrase deserving punishment, right?). But, even if this is the last company there, if they suck, they deserve to die, and let American and Japan be the only companies making games, as it was meant to be. Oh, and Canada I guess too.

Ubisoft ,Bioware and Silicon Knights are Canadian.

A good way to destroy your company is to invest in a movie lisence especially one that sucks to begin with, Any company that has to ask " why did it fail" should and will die!

Ubisoft is French, but their best developer right now is their Montreal branch. Though Ubisoft France is still awesome after the stupendous BG&E.

This is pretty sad news. Argonaut was the developer of Starfox, in case you guys forgot.

Lemme get this straight, you have friends working at every single major game company in existance? I mean, seriously, you have pretty much stated you know someone working for a MASSIVE number of companies we've talked about.

    So, that's nice, prove it.

Well, he does live in Quebec Province, and Montreal I believe, and Ubisoft Montreal is in Montreal, so it's possible...

ASM, no, Ubisoft isn't part of Vivendi. Ubisoft is part of Ubisoft. :) Vivendi owns Blizzard, Sierra, and Vivendi Universal Games...

As for this story, too bad. It seems like another UK-based developer is dropping every other week...
