It's a pretty name for a girl. My wife's name is Marieke Leanne Bradshaw (guess where the last name comes from :D) and I love names like that, especially for girls. When you have to work hard to pronounce your own name while growing up, you're bound to take pride in your name.
Yup, she had to adopt the name Minka because so many Americans have a hard time pronouncing her name (including me). I've known her for over 4 years and I still cant pronounce her name correctly. But her family cant pronounce mine. :D
I call her Marieke if we're with people we dont know, but then they just get all confused. I also call her Marieke when she pisses me off, which is fun.
