"After three long years of relentless fighting, the Clone Wars are nearly at an end. The Jedi Council dispatches Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring the deadly leader of the Separatist droid army to justice. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine has grown in power. His sweeping political changes transform the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire. To his closest ally, Anakin Skywalker, he reveals the true nature of power and the promised secrets of the Force in an attempt to lure him to the dark side."

Pretty damn cool, huh? Palps will have plenny 'splainin' to do.

why the hell did Darth Vader die in episode 6? Luke cut off his hand and the emperor shocked him a little bit but it didnt seem like fatal wounds.

All the electricty probably messed up his life-support systems, plus Luke beat on him quite a bit before he chopped off his hand.

Luke almost died just from the lightening attacks. He had to get a ton of bacta treament and even after that he was still really banged up. That's from Truce at Bakura, in case anyone is interested.

I think it was probably the first I ever read myself, my dad read Splinter of the Mind's Eye to me once [which was a LONG time ago].

My first Star Wars book was Shadows of the Empire--because I had just gotten the then-new N64 game. Then...I think it was Truce at Bakure, and The New Rebellion, and several more.

Splinter of the Mind's Eye was also the first original SW book ever written. Done before ESB came out, actually. That's why there are some particularly funny things in the book.

And it was written by the great Alan Dean Foster, author of The Dig book and the story for one of the Star Trek movies among other things.

Ive also read junior jedis and tales from Jabbas place.Which had a Buba Fett story which had taken place with him surviving falling into that big mouth on Tattione and he climbed his way out and then swore revenge on Han solo.

I think the first one I read was Han Solo... erm one of the first two. :D See we have old versions of the first two of the three of the old Han Solo Adventures books, so that's the first SW books I read... anyone else remember those, in CorSec with Bollux and Blue Max... :)

Those three were great. :) Of course since I've read a huge number of SW books, but those still are very good ones...

So, bring back Bollux and Blue Max! Somehow... it'd be cool! Come on! :D

Oh, one of the NJO books had a reference to them... I think it was ... oh I forget. One with this planet with a government caving to the Vong-ish ways of rounding up droids... Han sees some droid of the model of Bollux and mentions them but it wasn't them... still cool though.

Anyone remember that Star Wars stroy about the small band Rebel troopers who survived the Tantive IV at Tatooine, and went on to foil a sinister plot using asteroids, and finally liberate an entire Imperial-held planet?

Hmm it's been a while, but that sounds most like the X-Wing series, the first four books to be precise (about Rogue Squadron)... the next three were really the Wraith Squadron trilogy... the eighth (I believe there were 8 books) was a seperate story set later with the Rogues again. Oh, right, there were nine I think... hmm, I forget... but I remember one with Isard again (Isard's Revenge?) and another that was Starfighters of Adumar. So nine, 4-3-1-1. :)

Well I mean... it is sad when anyone dies, but when they wear a big red rubber nose and a funny wig in the casket, you can't help but laugh a bit.
