That is a strange song Weltall. Sounds like something the Newsboys or Relient K would do. Well, not musically, but as far as strangeness it would be perfect.

Godsmack-Voodoo (very different type of Godsmack song...pretty good)

What are you listening to? - Weltall - 16th February 2003

Steve Miller Band:
Fandango
Nothing Lasts

Two of my all time favorite songs but the album they were on was never released on CD, so I'm going to have to get an audio coupler and copy the MP3 from a cassette tape that was dubbed from a 1972 vinyl 33. It has all the pops and hisses but goddammit these songs fucking rock and this is the only way I'll ever have them in MP3 format :(

Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf

What are you listening to? - Laser Link - 26th February 2003

I refuse to post only what song I am currently listening to, and will continue with my tradition of listing a bunch of songs I've listened to lately and then commenting on them. My way is more interesting. :p

Switchfoot's Beautiful Letdown is incredible. I was expecting so much from this, and it is even better than I hoped. I only got it this afternoon and I've listened 4 times through, it gets better everytime. The lyrics are very deep and insightful so expect a lot of Switchfoot songs to end up in my sig over the next few months. :D If you have ears, buy this CD. It's one of the best I've ever heard.

Sweet! Disturbed is by far one of the very best metal bands out there...awesome group. They tour often, so hopefully they'll come to a city where I live soon....

Glenn Miller - In the Mood

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 4th March 2003

Lyrics are least important to me, especially since I usually just say whatever I think they are singing (when people sing suddenly all their words become unintelligable, I'm not sure why). If I wanted lyrics, I'd read a poem. It's all melody for me!

What are you listening to? - Laser Link - 4th March 2003

The music is very important to me, but everything I listen to gets stuck in my head. I am constantly running songs in the "background" no matter what I'm doing. So the lyrics are very important as well. I enjoy a warped, funny song as much as one that challenges me or turns my viewpoint upside down.

Honestly, I can't stand poetry. What I love is how music and lyrics can combine to take you places you've never been before. Apart from each other it's just not as powerful. That's why whenever I post lyrics from a song in my sig I'll also post a link to the song so you can get the full affect.

And darn it, but nobody has put any of the new relient K songs on Kazaa yet.

I love Glen Miller! I almost took up trambone lessons because of him. But then I decided on the sax since it's so much cooler.

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 4th March 2003

My viewpoint is sideways in an ocean of something silver and nanotech! I am the infinite telemarine! I am the perfect chain! AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAHAAA! HAHAHAHAHAH! *tears off arm and regenerates it* Ahahahahaha! Mwaaahahahahahaa The Song of Nephelim must play! Ahahahhaaheheh.. heh....

Anyway, I often get songs stuck in me head too. Anything to drown out that infernal screeching sound, ya know? Some people complain of getting a song "stuck", but when that happens I just replace it with one I like.

Don't get me wrong I love you
but does that mean I have to meet your father?
When we are older you'll understand
What I meant, when I said "No
I don't think life is quite that simple."

Lyrics of course are fun little things, and yes lots of poetry I've read lately is annoying, mainly because people are too afraid to say it sucks and be seen as the shallow people they are afraid they are, or something... *dances wildy while humming forcibly, as to force the reality of the enciter onto world, die by the dance and hum, HUM, do as it will* However, you can have great music without lyrics, but you can't have great music with only lyrics, just a poem. You are correct though, the right combination works just like a perfect combination of storyline and gameplay can.

The daily things that keep us all busy are confusing me.

That's when you came to me, and said...

"Wish I could proove I love you
But does that mean I have to walk on water?
When we are older you'll understand
It's enough, when I say so
And maybe, some things ARE that simple."

So, Hazaa! I do believe I will go ahead and buy this new Relient K thing you have been clamoring about. It has been such a long time since I bought any CDs, and a REALLY long time since I bought any CDs with songs in a language I can actually understand.

My band at school played a tribute to Glenn Miller. It was one of those dumbed ones, though, because we had to play it with the local 8th grade bands. My favorite part: "Pennsylvania Six Five-Thousand!"

Oh yeah, and I'm listening to Cake.

What are you listening to? - Private Hudson - 5th March 2003

Tool - Stinkfist

What other band uses Anal Penetration as a metaphor for the desensitization of society thanks to the "shock" factor of the MTV generation? Well, that's my interpretation of it, Maynard's lyrics are always written with that sort of vaguery, with the intention of letting people interpret his songs themselves.

Something has to change.
Un-deniable dilemma.
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear.

Constant over stimu-lation numbs me
and I wouldn't have
It any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Finger deep within the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Relax, turn around and take my hand.

I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure.
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way.

Blend and balance
Pain and comfort
Deep within you
Till you will not have me any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Knuckle deep inside the borderline.
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to.
Relax. Slip away.

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be.
Desensitized to everything.
What became of subtlety?

How can it mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all?

I'll keep digging till
I feel something.

Elbow deep inside the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Shoulder deep within the borderline.
Relax. Turn around and take my hand.

I'm listening to "How to Rob (An Industry Nigga)" by 50 Cent, dudes. I love the lyrics and how 50 leaves them open to interpretation, so that we can apply them to our own lives. For example, the lyric, "I'll man handle Mariah like 'Bitch, get on the ground' / You ain't with Tommy no more, who gonna protect you now?" has played a large role in my world views and morals.

I figured it out
Been robbin Joe before that's why his ass
don't wanna be a playa no more
Mad at you I'm robbin J.D., FUCK YOU!! PAY ME!!
Had Da Brat with 'em, shoulda had his gat with him
DMX wanna get down well you tell homey
I'm on that Treach shit, I do my Dirt All By My Lonely
I should rob Clue man his shit did well
I wanna stick TQ but his shit ain't sell
I hit the studios take shit and leave
Catch Rae Ghost and RZA for them funny ass rings
Tell Sticky gimme the cash before I empty three
Ill beat your ass like that white boy on MTV
Cannibus wanna battle while I'm stickin them up
Nigga get capped coroners pickin em up
Heavy tried to hide his shit, nigga try to stall ya
He said "Why you robbin me I got Nuttin But Love for ya!"
Caught Juvenile for his Cash Money piece
Told him I want it all he said, "Even my gold teeth?"
I caught Blackstreet on a back street in a black jeep
One at a time get out and take off your shine
Did you ever think that you would be this rich?
Did you ever think that you would have these hits?
Did you ever think that I'd flash the nine?
And walk off with your shit like it's mine?
I'ma keep stickin niggas until I'm livid
I'll rob Boys II Men like I'm Michael Bivins
Catch Tyson for half that cash like Robyn Givens
I'm hungry for real im bout to stick Mister C
That nigga still eatin off Big's first LP
I had Busta and the whole Flipmode on the floor
He asked me if I had enuff I told him "Gimme Some More"
Is you feelin this? Then wait for the sequel
I gotta get Kirk Franklin for robbin Gods People

I'm out homies.

Still have that old sarcasm thing going, eh Luke? :)

I'm listening to Hoopes I Did it Again. Thanks to Kazaa, I will survive until Tuesday. Now it's time for... Falling Out.

Soon College Kids and Over Thinking will be done. Over Thinking rules, but it's not a song I want to relate to.

DJ, Relient K is cool because they can be both very funny and sarcastic one song and then switch to a very serious topic. But I can't guarantee you will understand everything on this cd, because one entire song is in gibberish...

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 8th March 2003

Gibberish eh? That's the kinda thing I'll love!

It's lemon demon, hey!

Krull - Slayer's Attack (thanks lazy)

Much like a neutron cookie, eat it anyway, because you are already dead.

My life is greatly enriched by this.

What are you listening to? - Fittisize - 9th March 2003

Bia bia by Lil' John and the Eastside Boyz feat. Ludacris.

You gotta love the lyrics in this song:

"Where ya from? Where ya from? Godammit motherfucker where ya from!"

"Are you scared? (You scared!) Are you scared? (You scared!) Quit actin like a bitch you scared!"

What are you listening to? - Laser Link - 11th March 2003

I am listening to my brand spanking new GREEN copy of two left's don't make a right... but three do. It is much better on cd than streaming over the internet. It even sounds much better than what I downloaded, because my computer's speakers are really bad. It rocks much harder than I thought, a good thing. Relient K's best yet!

What are you listening to? - Weltall - 11th March 2003

I'm listening to Armik Dashchi's "Rain Dancer" album.

I  Spanish Guitar.

Download it. It's actually a very intellectual song. Rolleyes

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 11th March 2003

Yeah right, it's PRETEND intellectualism. In that they force all this fake reality stuff on ya, like "you ignore death, that means you are a coward" and stuff like that, or just spouting exactly what you want to hear (even if you don't realize it).

I've heard it before. And repetitive, not intellectual, is the term that comes to mind when I think of it.

If that stuff's intellectual, my Beatles collection must be fucking MENSA music.

Cool

Anyhoo...

The Byrds - Tambourine Man (and regardless of what DLN or Sandy might say, their version is much better than Dylan's :p )

Weh?

Maynard does write their lyrics to be open to interpretation (though, they do have a specific meaning to him). Their whole philosphy is about not being told what to think, to think for yourself. Hence their overwhelming anti-religion, anti-governmental, anti-popular culture, anti-scientology etc. etc. motif that are present in the majority of their songs. Though, I'm sure you're aware of that (or you should be).. so I don't see the point in the joke. :)

Uh. No comment. About this contradictory statement or about the structured wankery that is a Tool song. Wait, let's just leave it at no comment.

But hey, I really do like that 50 Cent song. I am really getting into this whole hip-hop thing: Eminem, Talib Kweli, Blackalicious, Eyedea & Alibities, The Streets (okay, maybe they don't count). It's entertaining stuff, and often the lyrics are ten times as clever as rock lyrics.

What are you listening to? - Private Hudson - 12th March 2003

Contradictory statement?

Please, I'd like to hear you're thoughts about all this sort of thing. I respect your knowledge of music. :)

Brave Saint Saturn- The Sun Also Rises
You can get it here. Looks like they added a 4th member. I bet they just added Andrew from FIF to be the full time drummer.

What are you listening to? - Great Rumbler - 16th March 2003

Right now I'm listening to a bunch of songs from Trigun [anime]. It's got some pretty music, most of them don't have any lyrics, but that's the kind of music I like.
