What are you listening to? - OB1 - 10th January 2003

I'm not listening to anything right now...

Well actually that's not true. One of my co-workers is playing some country music at his desk. I can barely hear it though, so I'm alright.

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 10th January 2003

To be honest, I'm always surprised EVERYONE responding to these threads actually has music playing at the time. I suspect a large number may just be loading up a CD or something right then so that they can say they are listening to something.

I've ALWAYS got music playing. Winamp is always on with all 3200 of my MP3s playing completely at random. I never, ever shut winamp off.

Right now it's Cowboy Bebop OST II - POWER OF KUNG FOOD REMIX

I gotta wonder if that could cause your hearing to become less sensitive. I don't think it's too loud or anything, as you didn't mention volume, but when I have total silence to listen to (okay, I never hear total silence, because I have this glitch with my hearing that causes me to constantly percieve a high pitched "eee" right at the upper edge of human hearing), my hearing becomes very sharp. After listening to the TV or a little music, the sensitivity drops for a while. You know, silence is golden and all that rot. It's the same reason I sometimes just close my eyes for a bit, so I don't have to see things all the frickin' time I'm awake.

What are you listening to? - OB1 - 10th January 2003

I also hear that very subtle high piched "eeee" when there is silence. Although if I concentrate on my breathing it seems to go away.

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 10th January 2003

Sometimes it gets really loud in my left ear specifically, but often if I shake my head it will go back to an ignorable level. This isn't to be confused with the high pitched sound some electronic devices like TVs make though. In any case, it's sure an annoying glitch.

I like femdom.

David Benoit - Happiness

What are you listening to? - LukeIsTerrified - 10th January 2003

Albums:

The Streets - Original Pirate Material. UK garage/hip-hop or something like that (I am not good with the genre thing). Addictive as crack. Hilarious. Awesome.

The Smiths - Singles. The best way to get into one of the best bands of the 80s -- a "greatest hits" album that's actually good. I think "What Difference Does it Make?" is my new favourite song.

The Libertines - Up the Bracket. I guess they're from the UK too. Media is calling their singer a British Julian Casablancas. I guess I can see that. They're a slightly more "punk" version of the Strokes.

REM - Life's Rich Pageant. Good 80s music. So good.

Stone Roses - Stone Roses. Ditto.

What are you listening to? - Dark Lord Neo - 10th January 2003

Lately I've been listening to
System of a Down -Steal This Album
Rolling Stones -40 licks
Bob Dylan - Greates Hits Volume 1
Bruce Springsteen - Back in the USA
The Tragically Hip - Live Between Us
Nirvana - Unplugged In New York
Metallica - Symphony and Metal

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 10th January 2003

Nah, not any of those. I'm based on organic tissues and DNA. However, a glitch is a glitch, regardless of whatever device is flawed by it, so that's what I call it. It's the same thing that causes the human brain to think that the bottom line in those "one line goes in at an angle from the top, two come out the bottom" pictures is the one that is part of the top line. Just a glitch, and nothing more.

What are you listening to? - Fittisize - 10th January 2003

I just bought 5 albums a couple days ago, plus a couple of my favourites that I'm still listening to.

SoaD-Steal this Album!-great CD. SoaD is surprisingly very political
Disturbed-Believe-Great band.
2Pac-Better Dayz-For Tupacs sixth posthumanously released album (all of them being double CD's with about 13 songs on each CD) is excellent. Sooo many good songs.
Korn-Untouchables
Korn-Issues
Korn-Follow the Leader (I like Korn, fav. band ever)
ICP-Sixth and Final Joker-ICP rules.

There's a freaky song #14 on the second CD on that Tupac CD. You can't listen to it by changing the songs manually, and it isnt' on the back of the case either (also, when you press stop it says there are only 13 songs). But if you put the CD on shuffle eventually you will get to a song 14. This made me curious, as I flipped through the songs earlier and there was only 13. It had Tupac (or a very close sound alike) saying "expect me. Excpect me like you expect Jesus. I'm coming". Cool stuff.

What are you listening to? - LukeIsTerrified - 11th January 2003

Tupac was a fairy.

What are you listening to? - Fittisize - 11th January 2003

Ha. He made (makes?) good music though.

What are you listening to? - Sacred Jellybean - 11th January 2003

ICP seems more fairy like to me... there's something to be said about guys who like to wear make-up.

Not that I have a problem with cross-dressing in secret. :o

What are you listening to? - Private Hudson - 11th January 2003

Rocky Horror Show was awesome you silly English git.

A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms

A brilliant albumn. Maynard is possibly my favorite lyricist of all time. It's not quite as hard as Tool, but very melodic.

What are you listening to? - Sacred Jellybean - 11th January 2003

I'm not English... I'm an American, you bloody wanker.

And I know Rocky Horror is awesome. It's my favorite cult movie. Sacred Jellybean = Rocky nonvirgin.

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 11th January 2003

Are you talking about that movie with the singing lips and the weird alien stuff that happens at the end of this Adam's Family style stuff for no reason? I'm not sure if that show was trying to be "artistic" or whatever, but there's no deep meaning going on there, and most of it isn't even funny. I'm surprised it's got some cult following. What's next? Is the "Really Really Really Scary Scary Movie" cartoon movie with the Igor fellow who breaks an egg and tosses it in the ingredients pot anyway going to suddenly be marvelled for it's amazing depth and artistic freedom?

What are you listening to? - Sacred Jellybean - 11th January 2003

I don't know anyone who follows Rocky Horror for its "deep artistic meaning", mainly because it's not intended to be as such! I think part of the fun is getting into the spirit when seeing it live, and shouting things at the screen with other people. The fact that the movie is so cheesy is what makes it so fun.

Plus, I like the songs, and seeing Little Nell's nipples. :)

BTW- Scary Movies 1 and 2 don't compare quality-wise to Rocky Horror. The latter's characters are much funnier and more entertaining.

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 11th January 2003

Ah, I get that, but um, why would they ONLY be obsessed with that movie? There's plenty of cheesy movies out there to spoof about with your friends. Why not....well there's that movie about the plant that eats people, and it's a musical.

Hmm, okay now it's time for "Story Time with the Osborns".

What are you listening to? - Sacred Jellybean - 11th January 2003

The movie you're thinking of is "Little Plant Shop of Horrors", or something to that effect.

I'm not quite sure why RHPS has such a huge following... but I'll admit, I couldn't appreciate it as much without the social value that it contains. Most of the fun comes from dressing up as characters and seeing it live with other fans, and shouting things at the screen/actors pantomiming it in front of the screen. Most other spoofs I've seen don't offer that... along with enjoyable characters and songs. Most other spoofs aren't that creative.

Tim Curry and singing transvestites > Rick Moranis and... whatever happens in Little Plant Shop of Horrors (I'll admit, I've only seen a little bit of it, so I probably shouldn't even be judging).

What are you listening to? - Dark Jaguar - 11th January 2003

I've only seen those movies like a couple of times, and both times I think were during that half awake state after eating a few metric terratons of food where anything on TV is fine, so long as NO ONE CHANGES THE CHANNEL BECAUSE I'M WATCHING THAT. Anyway, both weren't all that good, just funny because of how bad they are. Of course, I think they were going for that effect, so it's not like I'm saying the directors were bad or anything. Oh, and thanks for telling me the name. I'm pretty sure that's what it's called too.

What are you listening to? - Weltall - 11th January 2003

What are you listening to? - Laser Link - 6th February 2003

Nothing. It is quiet in my house.
*everyone gasps*
I was listening to the new relient K album on their website until they pulled the full versions of most of the songs and replaced them with 30 second clips. So now I'm listening to the new Switchfoot album online. Normal (l)users will find 30 second clips of all but the first song, but the l337 will quickly discover how to get to the full songs. Hehehe. :)

I hope Forefront puts the new Audio A cd online too. This greatly helps me decide what to buy.
