Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Nintendarse - 19th June 2003

I guess this is to start us off. IGN gives Wario World a 7.1, which is pretty decent. I was never impressed by any of the E3 showings, although I assumed it would be a bit longer than 5 hours.

Presentation: 8
Graphics: 7
Sound: 7
Gameplay: 7
Lasting Appeal: 4

Only 5 hours?? :( It still looks like fun.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Weltall - 19th June 2003

Skip Wario World and get Wario Ware. That game is incredible.

5 hours is short... if its actually 5 hours, like 'thats so short' 5 hours... but if its hard and it'll take you more than that actually or its got replay value and is fun that's okay...

You know, you could have linked the review.

Too bad there's no multiplayer mode.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - A Black Falcon - 19th June 2003

Someone expected one?

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - OB1 - 19th June 2003

The game would be been perfect with a co-op mode, and it would have added lots of replay value.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - A Black Falcon - 19th June 2003

Maybe it would have been cool, and since its Treasure you could maybe expect it...

But its a Mario-ish platformer. And no Mario platformer/action game has ever had (simultaneous) multiplay... so I'd hardly expect it now...

Have you seen this game yet? It's definitely not very Mario-like. It's a beat-em-up.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - A Black Falcon - 19th June 2003

True. But its starring a Mario-universe character and is published by Nintendo. So honestly I never even considered the idea that it'd have multiplayer... first time I thought about it was when I read that review and IGN complained that it wasn't there. :)

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - OB1 - 20th June 2003

Well you need to see more videos of the game. It really needs a co-op mode. The second player could have been Waluigi.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Great Rumbler - 20th June 2003

Yes, a co-op mode would be awesome in a game like Wario World.

I'm dissapointed that it got that low of a score, I was expecting around 8 or 8.5. Well, I'll probably get it eventually, but I think I'll wait until the price goes down.

And five hours is pretty short, I hope the gameplay makes up for that.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Sacred Jellybean - 20th June 2003

If this game had a co-op mode and great gameplay, it'd be a must-have, even if it were only 5 hours long.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Darunia - 20th June 2003

Sounds akin to Yoshi's Story; too short, (able to be beaten in an afternoon), and largely overrated.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - EdenMaster - 20th June 2003

Waluigi...not only does he have the worst, most uninspired name in the Nintendo cast of characters. Not to mention the fact that the only reason he exists is so Mario Party would have an adversary for Luigi.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Sacred Jellybean - 20th June 2003

Didn't he first show up in Mario Tennis?

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - Great Rumbler - 21st June 2003

I think that was his first appearance.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - A Black Falcon - 22nd June 2003

Yes. I've never played a game with him in it...

Oh, and Gamespot gives it a 6.4.

I wonder if they worked on it at all in the last year and a half. It was about 5 hours long at E3 two years ago. And what they showed was pretty complete.

But who cares! Now you can listen to Mario and Wario talk to Radio U on
The R!OT. Go to radiou.com and look for the interview on the front page. If it's not there anymore, it will be in The R!OT archives. They also interviewed the Homestar Runner crew a couple times, if you are into that. They are playing good music right now too: new Sky Harbor, Further Seems Forever, Dogwood, and Grits.

Laser Link  Radio U

I'm going to have to agree with Weltall on Wario Ware. I just got it yesterday and incredible is just the right word. It defines pick up and play gaming.

Have a ROTTEN Day!--Wario World thread - A Black Falcon - 28th June 2003

Yeah, given how long they were working on it Wario World is somewhat dissapointing... Wario Ware, on the other hand, of course, is really great.
