In principal, I like the idea of doing away with the clock switchover, but the problem is how they're doing it. Instead of abolishing daylight savings time, they're making daylight savings permanent. This may not seem like a big deal, but it's been done before (a one year trial run in 1974), and it didn't end well. Basically, in winter, we're all heading into work (or school) in the dark. Accidents will happen, people will be very drowsy. It's not a good thing.
Better to make standard time eternal. The mornings just get brighter. All it'd mean is that the sun sets an hour earlier in summer, so 8PM instead of 9PM, and in winter nothing changes. That's not going to hurt anyone's routine.
I sure hope the senate makes that adjustment if they do decide to pass this, or we're in for a repeat of last time. Oh, and I'm sure that farmers may not particularly like getting rid of the switchover, but better a tiny section need to adjust than everyone else have to do so just to make them happy.
