The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - The Former DMiller - 6th June 2003

An interview with Factor 5 about Rogue Squadron III. I'm sure a lot of you will have questions about this one.

The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - Great Rumbler - 6th June 2003

[1] Is there any way you could add a secret minigame where you beat up Jar-Jar Binks with various blunt objects?

[2] Do you find the Gamecube easier to work with versus the PS2/Xbox?

[3] How long have you been working on Rouge Squadron 3?

[4] What kind of graphical improvements will RS3 have over RS2?

The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - OB1 - 6th June 2003

Hey finally a good developer to interview! :D I hope you include my q's.

1) A lot of the screenshots released so far look a bit early, displaying some weak textures and less bump-mapping than Rogue Leader. Will the final game's textures look better?

2) From the videos I've seen, the camera in the third-person running levels look a bit odd and confusing. Will the player be able to control the camera in the final version?

3) How many minutes (or hours?) worth of in-game cinemas are there? And FMV from the movies?

4) The sound in the last game was good, but a lot of it sounded very midi-like. Will that be improved with Rebel Strike?

5) Is there even a remote chance that we'll see LAN multiplayer in the game?

6) Approx. how many polygons per second does Rebel Strike usually push?

I'll think of some more questions later.

GR, I'm not sure that Factor 5 has developed on PS2/X-Box... I doubt it. :)

And no Jar-Jar in a classic series game.

Of course, in Factor 5's Battle for Naboo, the only place that Jar-Jar showed up was in the intro, where he got squashed by the Nintendo N-cube. :)

-Will the third person parts be 'run and shoot auto-target enemies' or is there any more depth? As it is it looks very simple.

-Are any of the new levels available in multiplayer (cooperative...)? Or is it just RS2's levels?

-Will the gameplay (in ships) will be the same as RS1/2? Or any changes (controls, weapon system, powerups, etc...)?

-Are there any new hidden ships to unlock?

-Will this game (or future games in the series) get head-to-head multiplay as well as cooperative? And why not multiplay on the ground missions?

-In the cooperative (RS2 part), will the cutscene(s?) that cut out early be fixed (like one in the Battle of Endor...)?

-Will the single player game be longer than RS2? That one did have lots of replay trying to get better medals, but the game itsself was quite short.

Oh, and DMiller, where/when do these interviews you ask us about go up? Any timeframe for them?

The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - The Former DMiller - 6th June 2003

The interview times are all dependent on the developer. It's usually at least three weeks before we get the interview back.

The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - lazyfatbum - 7th June 2003

1.) Will there be large ships where a player can take control of the different aspects like manning the guns, piloting, working in the engine room, etc?

2.) Is the multiplayer limited to flying ships - Is there ground based (on foot) multiplayer? What about alternate gameplay like racing or capture the flag?

3.) Are there other animals to use or find in the game?

4.) Do upgrades affect multiplayer? And a side from upgrades, is there any level of customization for the ships?

5.) What's next for Factor-5?

6.) DMiller and I have a child, I would like to have a child with you too. I've got birthing hips and a whole pack of viagra.

The Interview You've Been Waiting For: Rogue Squadron 3 - Dark Jaguar - 7th June 2003

The engine room eh? What, is the whole thing powered by a hamster in a wheel? The true nature of future technology isn't to make the most complex thing ever, because that means a million things can go wrong. The real goal is to make the most useful device out of pure simplicity. In other words, a gigantic ultrapowerful wishing thingy operated with a single button made out of ONE thing with no moving parts except the button (replace the button with a heat sensitive area, takes out that degredation :D).

But Star Wars has past technology. A Long Time Ago....

;)

N-Philes finally posted the interview, and Derek even used some of our exact questions (like my LAN support one, which wasn't changed a bit)! Thanks a bunch, D!

Although I do wish you had asked them about the game's poly count... ;)

Sorry, that was posted a while ago, but I have been busy this summer so I forgot to mention it here. Hope you guys enjoy it because I think it's a pretty good interview.
