I know, it's realistic, but it's not the sort of realism I want. Movie makers have had "all focus" lenses for years now so the whole scene can be in focus no matter the distance, and that's basically what I want out of a video game too. The problem is I can't turn this "feature" off in console games. I've seen comparison shots of the upcoming Metal Gear and the "better" versions on the newer consoles look worse to me, because Snake is nothing but a blurry mess in half of them!
Is this really what we WANT?

That's not even a good depth of field effect. It looks like some high-transparency blur filter in Photoshop.

I might even give Kojima the benefit of the doubt, having seen Ground Zeroes in motion, that it's intended to look more "cinematic" than realistic, but I still don't really like the effect. I like everything to be in focus.

It fails, though. A simple blurring effect would be a lot more effective, because that's what you get when you use an actual camera. This just looks like the camera is very specifically drunk.
