PSP2 Announced - A Black Falcon - 27th January 2011 What we don't know -- Release date (sometime within the next year), price (no idea, but it will be high), and battery life (how low will it be?). Looks high end for a handheld, very high end, but it'll be quite expensive unless Sony takes a huge hit on every sale, and it'll come out quite a while after the 3DS too. I wonder how it'll do, at a high price... well in Japan for sure, both handhelds will do well there, but elsewhere... I don't know. There certainly is more competition now for both of them from phones and such, and the 3DS is looking very strong. Still though like the first PSP I'm sure it'll probably do decently, at least because of the likely strong Japanese game support to come (unless the 3DS destroys it there or something, but if it's anything like this generation both will likely do well, even if Nintendo stays in first as I'd probably guess will happen). At least it isn't download only like the PSPgo or some PSP2 rumors! PSP2 Announced - Dark Jaguar - 27th January 2011 Haha, they "fixed" it by making it a single screen Nintendo DS. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/27/ngp-psp2-hardware-gallery/ Somewhat interesting that portables are the big focus for two out of three console makers. Microsoft is the only one left out of the loop there. Further, neither Nintendo or Sony (or MS) have said any word at all about making new consoles. It seems they really do all intend their systems to be in it for the long haul. Honestly that's not that big a deal to me, considering how good modern 360 games are looking. |
