Blender - Darunia - 12th June 2010

Ok, fellows, I'm going to try and investigate this Blender. But, your old pal Darunia, while a fierce and noble warrior, is less than optimally acclimated to computers. Having said that, I will need assistance getting it to work. That said, my first question:

What is this Python thing? Where do I save it, and how do I get it to work with Blender? I downloaded Blender and it works, but in the launcher it says it cannot find Python... I'm not sure how essential it is to the process, but I assume that it is. Please advise

Your pal

I can say with authority that if you've never done 3D modeling before, you're going to find this program insanely difficult to understand. Toven makes it sound easy, but Toven is also quite experienced and knows what he's doing.

When will you learn to stop trying to improve yourself in any way?

I'm just saying, you need experience to even comprehend what it does. You don't just climb into a cockpit and start flying planes, you know?

You don't just climb into a cockpit and start flying planes

Well, I do.

I have tons of experience crafting levels in 3B for Jedi Knight, if it's anything like that.

But first things first,

resolve the Python thing for me.

ANSWER MY QUESTION!

Python is a programming language, and installing them can be tricky. Have you visited http://www.python.org/download/ yet?

Blender - etoven - 13th June 2010

Python is not required for Blender, but if you want plugins to work you need it. So I recommend you get it. Just make sure your downloading the correct version for your Blender distro otherwise blender won't be able to find it.

BTW, I strongly recommend you do some Youtube tutorials, 'Bits of Blender' for example is a good series. Ryan's correct, Blenders not for the faint of heart, but if you do some of those tutorials I bet you'll be blending like a pro in know time, that's what did it for me.

Here is the cross blend file to get you started.
