Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

From Games Are Fun:

Quote:Capcom cans 18
Reuters revealed today that Capcom has cancelled 18 titles. According to the press agency, Capcom lost a lot of money during the 2002-2003 fiscal year due to the poor sales of games like Resident Evil 0, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, P.N.03, Chaos Legion, and Clock Tower.

... What's wrong with you people?

Anyway, as a result, the company has put a stop to titles they feel have very little financial potential. There's been no word on what they are, but, certainly, if they're important games that have been talked about at length, their absence will be conspicuous. We'll have more soon.

Damn, eighteen games?? Let's try to guess which ones they'll be.

If it's Resident Evil 4, I'm blowing up the main office of Capcom.

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

I seriously doubt that they'd can RE4.

...if it's any of the big 5, PARTICULARLY the cell-shaded game, HEADS WILL FUCKING ROLL.

Seriously... if that's the case... God help me... I don't give a rats ass about another fucking Resident Evil, but if its any of the other "big 5" for GameCube, I'm going to be really disappointed.

You never know, OB1.

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

Yeah I really want to see Killer 7, Beanjo.

Eighteen games? Wow, that is a lot... wonder what all got canned...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

Hopefully that really awful-looking Mega Man game for the Gamecube.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

Mega Man Battle Network: Transmission? It doesn't look that good, no... but if it does come out I can't help but buy it... :)

:hammer:

Resident Evil 0, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, P.N.03, Chaos Legion, and Clock Tower.

Well, at least they didn't blame it ENTIRELY on RE0 and it's gamecube line up...that's a little reassuring. I did my part for Capcom; I bought REMake and RE0...(even if both of them were 2nd hand...)...does that matter?

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

If they were second hand then you did nothing to support Capcom. They don't get any money from second hand sales.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

But... its 2d Mega Man! How can I resist? I mean, not buying Mega Man Legends/64 was easy... that game was really terrible... but this is 2d, so I have hope. :)

Capcom cans 18 games - Darunia - 18th April 2003

:(

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

Because it looks like crap, ABF.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

But its not out yet so we don't know for sure...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

Just about every gaming site that has had played the game say that it's pretty boring.

Capcom cans 18 games - Great Rumbler - 18th April 2003

If Viewtiful Joe is one of the games that got cancelled I will swim to Japan and punch the president of Capcom right in the face!!

Anyway, this is very bad news that Capcom is doing so bad and had to cancel all those games. Hopefully none of them are games that I wanted...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

I doubt they'll can Viewtiful Joe. They're probably just canning some early-in-development titles. Hopefully that doesn't include Killer 7.

Capcom cans 18 games - Darunia - 18th April 2003

Fortunately enough for me, the only Capcom game I was even looking forward to was RE4...so I'm fairly safe.
One things for sure; this won't look good for Nintendo. I imagine quite a few people are blaming this squarely on the Nintendo-Capcom marriage.:D

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

Sony and MS fanboys will use anything to bash Nintendo, so who gives a damn. Capcom listed more bad-selling PS2 titles than GC ones.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

Uh... the gameplay movies don't look THAT bad...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

But it doesn't look good either, does it?

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

Well, if you're asking if it looks like its as good as X4-6, or Megaman Zero on GBA, no, it doesn't. But how it will turn out isn't certain yet... I hope...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 18th April 2003

I've heard that it's very bland.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 18th April 2003

Yeah... have you watched IGN's gameplay videos from a while back? It looked alright but not great...

The question is, how did it end up this way? The Mega Man sidescrollers have been consistently great ever since the series got off the NES!

Capcom cans 18 games - Darunia - 19th April 2003

What are we talking about now.

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 19th April 2003

pizza?

Capcom cans 18 games - Great Rumbler - 19th April 2003

Pizza? I thought we were talking about Mega Man Battle Network: Transmission...

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 19th April 2003

Did you click on the link?

Capcom cans 18 games - Great Rumbler - 19th April 2003

Yes.

Capcom cans 18 games - OB1 - 19th April 2003

... I... I'm there.

Capcom cans 18 games - A Black Falcon - 19th April 2003

So?

As for MMBN:T, hey, I can hope, can't I?

Question!

Mega Man or Megaman?

Capcom cans 18 games - Sacred Jellybean - 19th April 2003

Mega Man makes more sense, Megaman looks better (maybe because that's how I've seen it other places).
