TMNT Smash Bros. - A Black Falcon - 24th June 2009

Erm, I mean TMNT Smash Up, yeah...

Not that it looks much different from SSB, as you'd probably expect given the same programmers (Game Arts) are making it, and it's also on Wii. Will it be anywhere near as good as the SSB games without Nintendo's oversight, though? I'm skeptical, but we'll see...

"Who else will join the brawl?" They even use a term associated with Super Smash Bros. :)

To answer their question, I'm guessing... Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, and other characters from the TV series? Particularly those first three since it is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and we've only seen one turtle thusfar.

Hmm, yeah, some of the character list is quite predictable (most obviously the four turtles), but there are a huge number of other characters for them to choose from, it'll be interesting to see how many end up in the game... they do have a lot of options. Only new series characters? Original? Comics? Who's in? You can't have everyone, there are just too many to choose from...

They are making the appeal to SSB pretty blatant, aren't they. I'm not surprised though, and given the development team, they actually kind of have a reason to be justified in doing it, even beyond the fact that the gameplay's clearly out of the SSB playbook. Let's just hope that it's anywhere near as good...

In 1993 Konami made three TMNT fighting games, TMNT Tournament Fighters for the NES, Genesis, and SNES. Each is completely different. On SNES, it's a fantastic game, one of the system's best fighting games. Get it if you don't have it! On Genesis, it's not very good at all -- it only uses three buttons and not six, has just one punch and kick button, poor gameplay... on NES the gameplay's no better, but at least there there are almost no other fighting games to compete with. On Genesis, that's not true... so yeah, get the SNES one.

TMNT: Mutant Melee (PS2/Xbox/GC/PC) was also a fighting game, sort of, or at least a versus arena brawler in isometric-style arenas. I haven't played it, but reviews were mediocre. But this one's quite different, sticking to 2.5d gameplay like SSB. We'll see how well it turns out. :)

Features trailer. Yup, still looks like TMNT Smash Bros, all right. That is, it looks quite fun. :)

TMNT Smash Bros. - lazyfatbum - 15th August 2009

I'm pretty sure some of the SSB team is working on this game.
