Square-Enix now owns Eidos - Dark Jaguar - 28th March 2009

I think I'll sum up my emotions with a resounding "huh". I'm at a loss to think of even one Eidos game I own. In fact the only one that I can even remember is that they did a (very glitchy) port of FF7 to PC some time back (so they've at least got a previous history with Square).

So I checked out information, they appear to be a publisher of games, but I'm not sure if they actually do any developing themselves. I see some big names there though, well big for some people. I never had much interest in Tomb Raider or Hitman, for example.

Well it's something I guess.

So... is it Square-Enix-Eidos now?

Eidos is a big publisher and developer, definitely. They owned Ion Storm, for instance -- Anachronox, etc. They also published for Looking Glass for a while -- Thief, for instance. And of course they have Tomb Raider, among other things. They also own the developer Crystal Dynamics (who made the last three Tomb Raider games, but did other stuff before then).

Probably just the Eidos division of Square-Enix, I'd bet. :)
