BANJO KAZOOIE - A Black Falcon - 4th December 2008

Banjo-Kazooie is one of those N64 games I never quite got around to getting... I have Banjo-Tooie, DK 64, and Conker, but not B-K... actually the only Rare N64 games I don't have are B-K, Goldeneye, Mickey's Racing USA, and KI Gold.

BANJO KAZOOIE - TrollSr - 4th December 2008

I never played through B-K when it originally came out. I think i just passed the point where I stopped on the xbox version.

I have goldeneye, by far my favorite 64 game

BANJO KAZOOIE - DMiller - 4th December 2008

Rare had a lot of gems in the N64 days. Jet Force Gemini was a favorite of mine, but, of course, Goldeneye tops them all for me.

BANJO KAZOOIE - Dark Jaguar - 5th December 2008

Yeah I prefer Perfect Dark to Goldeneye. They just perfected the formula that started with Goldeneye. In all honesty, after playing around in Perfect Dark I was surprised I "settled" for Goldeneye's last minute tacked on multiplayer (which admittedly, was surprisingly good considering).

Then again, it's hard to counter arguments for Goldeneye's superiority like "the guns actually exist in the real world" (which is a good point for a first person shooter... because?).

BANJO KAZOOIE - A Black Falcon - 5th December 2008

Absolutely, Perfect Dark is much better than Goldeneye. Goldeneye was good for the time, sure, but PD improved on it in almost every way... better gameplay, better story, better multiplayer, bots, sci-fi setting (what? I prefer it to Bond... :))...

Quote:"the guns actually exist in the real world" (which is a good point for a first person shooter... because?).

I'd consider that more a negative myself, really... :D

Seriously, I think the only FPS I own with all real-world guns is Return to Castle Wolfenstein... which, obviously, isn't exactly a realistic game. :)

So far, no joke, the top weapons in a FPS have come from PD on 64 and the Turok games. There are weapons here and there from other games that deserve attention but for the whole package holy hell you cant beat the above two. I mean, the feel, use and execution, the diversity and most important the interaction and fun factor of the weapons from PD and Turok (1, 2) are just gold. Who hasn't played an FPS, any FPS and recalled the feel of the recoil of the grenade launcher from Turok 1, the Aliens-inspired superdragon switching between burst and grenade and the CMP150 lockon, the frisbee-o-doom from Turok 2, I mean these are just plain win.

Before I put all my krap up for grabs across the internet I did a play through of B~K and T. B~K's puzzles are still the best from any platformer in like ever.
