you'd think with all the coverage they would know; Afghanistan is right wedge between Iran and Pakistan borders Uzbekistan;Tajikistan and turkmenistan.Interestingly Afghanistan and Syria are similar in shape maybe thats how they confused them?

That is really, really sad. I am not surprised when the general public doesn't know where Afghanistan is, but if you work for a "reputable" news agency you should know where a country is if our soldiers are fighting there.
