Robert Jordan is dead. - Great Rumbler - 16th September 2007

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountain of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.

In his honor, I will one day consider picking up the first of the Wheel of Time series.

Make sure you set aside a few years to get through it.

Well, there's always the possibility that midway, I'll say something like "Okay, this is dumb" and forget the whole thing. So I might only need a year and a half, give or take.

Horrible news... :(

I wonder how much of the last book was complete...

What's the polite thing to say here? I feel like "that's a shame" comes off sarcastic... In fact I'm pretty sure at this point that expression can ONLY be used sarcastically. Is it just me or did that entry from whoever that was sort of go off on a bit of a different direction for a while there?

At any rate, I never read those books, but I know a lot of people here liked them. Was the last book he was writing supposed to be the last one, or was he just going to keep on going as long as he was able? Continuing on this, were there a bunch of unresolved plot holes or something? I heard the stories are pretty convoluted so that's highly possible I suppose. If the guy left no wishes I suppose anyone could just take over from here so long as they do well.

He was battling a disease since early last year, so I imagine that he had a will that went over this kind of situation.

The next (12th) book was supposed to conclude the main series (surely with many, many loose ends not tied up), but he'd said that he had other story ideas; perhaps more prequel books like New Spring, or maybe something else, who knows. But now... who knows... :(

As for unresolved plot points... well, let's just say that in every book he seemed to add more new storylines than he did conclude old ones...
