This is a random pointless question, but aren't those the best? How many currently active email addresses do you have? To be fair, I will say I have 4, although it could technically be considered 7. See, I have a school address that can be sent to any of the 4 Unix servers CS students have access to, but I'll only count that as 1. I had a couple more in Ye Old Rumble City days thanks to PK and Epollna, but I let those die away. And in truth all my other addresses are just forwards to my main account. But it still sounds cool, er maybe not. :)

Uh...I only have one, and all I ever get is spam, so...

Who's the geekiest? - Sacred Jellybean - 23rd March 2003

I've got 2, my school e-mail address, and my personal one. I only give trusted people the personal one, so it doesn't get spammed to death.

Wish I'd thought of that.

I have 3... two webmail accounts (IGN and Yahoo) and my school address that I don't tell anyone (so I get no spam there...). Four, if you also count our home email account that I used to use as a email account but don't use anymore...

I have a single one. There's my geocities one, but that's a forwarding account that next to no one even knows about any more. I also used to have a hotmail account, but I ran fleeing for my very soul when one day I started getting over 100 spams a day. Now, it's just the yahoo account, and I really don't go there often (in other words, don't try to contact me via e-mail if you want a fast response, I go for 2 or so weeks between checking it's inbox), since I fear the spam I get now. I for one am VERY comfortable with my hair situation, don't find I need a 3rd mortgage on my home, and am pretty sure that sponge porn isn't my thing. It's not as bad as my hotmail account got when I finally ran away from it never looking back, but at my current check rate, I have around 300 e-mails to sift through every time I go in (I press the "check all for deletion" button and just uncheck anything that looks like it might actually matter, which sadly, is usually nothing at all, so I end up going in usually just to read a bunch of "from" taglines (here's a hint, if the "from" isn't a name but something like "saving you money", you just better delete it) and hitting delete.

One, DJ? Um, in your post you mention a whole lot more of them... just because you don't use them much doesn't mean that they don't exist in your name anymore... :)

As for spam, I don't get much of any... maybe one every few days... everything else I get is stuff I did sign up for. And my school email account gets no spam because I haven't told it to anyone or any website...

Actually, Hotmail has a rule saying if you haven't used it in a year, it's cancelled, so by now someone else may have registered it. So that's two by your standards. I still don't count geocities. In fact, I think geocities e-mail may have stopped altogether, so that's likely yet another, so that's back to 1.

I hate how you can use the "block spam" option in Hotmail, yet the Hotmail staff is still allowed to send you spam (without the option of blocking their address). I don't like Hotmail.

Who's the geekiest? - Weltall - 27th March 2003

I have two that I actually use, my Hotmail one for spam and my tcforums.com one for everything else.

I like my IGN account... I haven't gotten more than maybe 1 spam a day (usually none at all) in probably over a year... probably because I just don't get on spam lists for some reason. I used to be on some spam lists on that email address and got 5 or 6 a day but for some reason they stopped bothering me... :) I don't think its blocking any email (you can block email addresses but spammers just find new ones...), so I'm just happy that its they way it is for now.

*checks mail*

One new spam in the past day or two.
