***EBAY*** - Great Rumbler - 3rd July 2007

I'll try to break it down as best I can:

Gamecube + Gameboy Player = $35-$45
3 memory cards = $5-$10
Component video cable = $5-$10
5 controllers = $15-$20
Action replay = $5-$10
38 games = $350-$400

So, you're probably looking at a price range of $400 to $500, under the best of circumstances. However, bear in mind that GC's aren't exactly a hot commodity anymore, so you might be looking at a lot less, especially for the hardware. On the other hand, given the nature of the Wii and how well it's selling there might be some people out there looking to get their hands on some games and controllers.

I'd probably start the whole lot out at somewhere between $150 and $200 and see where it goes from there. I'd say your best bet is to emphasize the games themselves.

You also might want to set a reserve around $400, just in case you don't get many active bidders.

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 3rd July 2007

WHY?!

***EBAY*** - EdenMaster - 3rd July 2007

:nono:

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 3rd July 2007

I'll hope for 400 when its all said and done but I almost forgot! 2 pairs of bongos too! (not that it will impact much) but 400 just for the GC collection would be awesome. I'll get the N64 stuff up tomorrow. Man if it all goes as planned (it WONT ;D) I should have enough money to put down my first and last month on an apartment, deposits on the utilities, get a cheap motorcycle and all just from my video game collection.

I bet i'll get some good money for the Wii and games etc but man i'm kick myself in the ass for several decades for selling it. :D

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 3rd July 2007

Money troubles then? Well so be it, but by selling it you INVALIDATE OUR CHOICE TO BUY ALL THIS CRAP! We NEED others to NOT give up the hobby to justify our existance! That's how it works!

***EBAY*** - A Black Falcon - 3rd July 2007

Quote:Money troubles then? Well so be it, but by selling it you INVALIDATE OUR CHOICE TO BUY ALL THIS CRAP! We NEED others to NOT give up the hobby to justify our existance! That's how it works!

Yup! :)

... really though, selling all (or a lot of) of one's gaming stuff is a bad idea...

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 4th July 2007

I just thought of something. lazy, if you need the money, you need the money. That's life and all that. However, I'd recommend, if it'll get you enough and you want to keep as much as possible, to only sell the stuff you can later get on the Virtual Console (using, in fact, a fraction of the money selling the original cartridge will net you). Basically, I mean try not to sell your Gamecube games. Just sell the Gamecube. Do you "has" some rare classics on your SNES like Final Fantasy 6 or Chrono Trigger? Unfortunatly, I've yet to see Chrono Trigger released on anything modern, but a lot of those old RPGs on the SNES sell for crazy loads of cash.

***EBAY*** - Great Rumbler - 4th July 2007

Just selling the Gamecube by itself would probably get him about $30. Given what he's told us so far, I'd say he needs a lot more than that.

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 4th July 2007

I can replace video games and rebuild a collection whenever. Right now video games are the furthest thing from my interests... except for BWii and Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros: Brawl.... :D which I will probably be able to play a few years from now.

My girl hates me but I owe it to her to be there in holland and fight for her and she owes it to herself to atleast confront what happened. With everything going on a video game collection that will get no play to lug around just doesn't make sense and selling everything is going to help me out big time. No one in my family has any money to help me and I have no one in holland that will help me when i'm there so it's all on me and selling everything I own is gonna make life nicer.

I turned on my keyboard today to test out the stickiness of the buttons and to my surprise the gameboy-like screen for its display has funky lines... I cant sell it in that condition so now I dunno if its getting on ebay by next week. Hopefully it doesn't cost a testicle to fix it... I know i can easily get 500 (atleast) for it.

Tallying N64 collection now. SNES collection isn't that great anymore, I sold a bunch of it years ago.

***EBAY*** - N-Man - 4th July 2007

I decided to see exactly how worthless my SNES collection was on Ebay... apparently, very worthless. Ogre Battle can still fetch something like 40 bucks though.

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 4th July 2007

Well lazy, if you are going to sell it, now's the time. I'm not sure how much your Gamecube games will net you, being currently available and all, but the rest will likely only net you less money if you wait, thanks to the power of your Live Arcades and your Virtual Consoles. It's only a matter of time before those biggest eBay sellers like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Super Mario RPG, and some others are once again available for sale as downloads.

***EBAY*** - DMiller - 5th July 2007

I would say around $400 would probably be a good starting point. It might be tough to sell at that price since GameCube isn't in high demand, but eBay just allow you to repost your auction if it fails to sell. And if you really feel like it you could probably sell individual games to people, such as members of TC (dibs on Donkey Konga 2 and Ikaruga).

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 5th July 2007

Dibs? It's eBay! Ikaruga will go to the highest bidder, and it was ever thus.

Be fairly warned, I consider it no foul move to do the "last second swoop from nowhere", any more so than the real auction person who goes in with some huge number in the final countdown *do de dooo duuuu*.

***EBAY*** - DMiller - 5th July 2007

I meant selling them separately from eBay, although he probably shouldn't do that with a game like Ikaruga. However, I checked eBay and it seems like it doesn't go for much more than $20 when auctioned off so even the rare GameCube games aren't in much demand.

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 5th July 2007

20 bucks is 20 bucks.

There's a story behind alot of my games, how i got them, etc. But the Zelda Oracle games are pretty special to me. When Minka first came to the united states the Oracle games were released... she could only stay a month so we got both versions and she took one home along with my GBC... so while we were talking on buddyphone or on netmeeting we would play.... it also had codes to share information and stuff and it helped us feel closer while we were apart. When she was able to come back after much lying to the government we switched games and played them again.... I dunno it was like Nintendo nerd romance.... god I miss her.

***EBAY*** - DMiller - 5th July 2007

I would definitely sell some of those rarer games seperately, such as Ogre Battle, but I haven't sold on eBay for a while so I may not be the best to ask for advice. I am interested in a few games so I'll send you a list and a price.

Quote:*The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Original Gold, vr. 1.0! Hasn’t been censored)

I'm obviously missing something. I've heard of this before but what was censored? Didn't it have something to do with the design on the shield?

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 5th July 2007

There are three things that were changed (as far as I can tell). Hard to call it censorship, but I guess it kinda is. The first thing of note is the music in the Fire Temple was changed because previously it had an Islam chant repeating. I myself didn't recognize it as Islam at all, but I know nothing of that particular religion. At any rate whatever they were saying, it sounded awesome and fit the mood of that temple nicely. The replacement had the tune but not the chanting and for me it lost a lot of it's impact. For my part I would have hired voice actors to sing the chanting in the same tone and style but using some imaginary hylian words or something.

Another aspect that was changed was the mirror shield. In the original, it was the image of a moon and a small star above the moon. It looked cool but more than that, it really looked cool seeing that symbol when you were shining light around a room. However, it highly resembles an islamic symbol (perhaps intentionally) and there were some complaints (not sure what's to complain about really, except I guess maybe they thought using that symbol on a shield of ultimate justice was somehow an insult). Anyway, Nintendo replaced it with a rather boring looking symbol (in my opinion). This symbol did get reused in Wind Waker as the pirate's ship symbol though.

The last change is blood color. Let me say right now that I consider altering blood COLOR about as effective a censorship method as blurring out a middle finger on TV. Everyone on the planet, every single kid, knows exactly what you just blurred. Why did you blur it? What aspect of a raised middle finger is really all that obscene, AT ALL? Sure it's an insult in our society, but it's something everyone sees anyway so blurring it is kinda not protecting ANYONE, from ANYTHING. As for blood color, I mean, seriously, what is the lesson here? Violence is okay so long as the creature you are wounding is sufficiently unlike us? Things that have blue or green blood are "okay" to kill? I fear first contact with vulcans if this is the lesson we are teaching our kids. It's bleeding no matter what, it's really no less shocking. On the other hand, when it's NOT censorship but an artistic choice, it's pretty interesting, like Grunts and their cyan blood, bright and shiny. Back to the point, basically anything that previuosly bled red blood was changed to some other color. That means Ganondorf looks more like he's throwing up than coughing up blood. Honestly I really don't know why they bothered changing that from the original. Again, what good does it really do?

Well there ya go. Also in later versions various glitches were removed (though I'm pretty sure they all still have the "once you grow up, you can't get the last deku seed capacity upgrade, giving you a window between getting the ocarina of time and actually playing the ocarina of time at the temple of time to use that mask of truth on that mask judging group and get that upgrade). I still prefer the original gold. I suspect that'll net a pretty penny online.

Nobody wants to help with the pricing? ;(

also omfg idfk wat happind but all my N64 games are flithy, like bum wearing a trash bag outside the 7-11 with the Gold Bond powder-dirty. all GC stuff has been cleaned.... I also remembered that my copy of Blast Corps has "PROPERTY OF BLOCKBUSTER" emblazed across it and melted in to its sides like branded cattle so oh well..... i'll fail to mention to such things. :D

Buyer Beware'd!

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 7th July 2007

oh... this is kinda lame, but I'm lame so it fits.

anyway, i was very proud of my town in Animal Crossing, all 4 houses built up and payed off, every fruit tree grows and I made these hardcore sprites of Mario themed stuff (for my house) and Zelda themed stuff (for minka's house) and its like.... its all badass..... i wanted to plant a forest and make a lost woods but I never got around to it....

so yeah just sharing :D

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 7th July 2007

The only thing I can suggest is to just search for each of those items on eBay and check the going prices yourself. Generally that should give you a good average.

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 7th July 2007

yup!

Virtual Boy with games = 30 bucks :crap:
N64 bundle = 200
NES = 10/15 bucks
SNES bundle = 50
GC bundle = 300 (maybe 4)
DS bundle = 200?
GBA's bundle = 100?
DC = really confusing, some are 30 bucks, some are 200. So dunno what to do here.

I think the best thing to do is sell everything as one giant lot, i got some free time now so back to cleansing the evil and EXORSIZING THE DUST DEMONS! I actually started humming carol of the bells....... wait, is it carol of the bells? or is that the christmas song? whatever.

Used game stores are awesome. :) All of my SNES and Genesis games come from used game stores, flea markets, and pawnshops. :)

***EBAY*** - alien space marine - 11th July 2007

Wow!

Jezuz christ!

I sure wish I could drive over to your place Lazyfatbum , You practical own not only a video store but a electronic museum.

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 11th July 2007

We could never afford ROB (at the time) and I always wanted to pick one up but I never got around to it. I had a friend's for a long time but he eventually asked for it back (to sell :D)

My SNES collection took a major nose dive a few years back. I sold some GC/N64/SNES stuff along with my second Dreamcast (it was broken anyway - it's a secret to everyone) to help pay some bills. But many moons ago I sold 64 (irony!) SNES games so I could buy a N64 at the toys r us that held one for me specifically because I annoyed them everyday about it for a year... but tonite I found out some horrible tho expected news.

My sister was down on her luck and living at my grandfather's house... bored out of her mind. So I let her borrow my original (box) NES, 2 dogbones and all my NES games including gold Zelda and Metroid.... Zelda had my swordless quest file and Minka had a file on it too... I then found out all my Genny games recieved the same fate... all of it got hauled off to the pawn shop to support my sister's 'hobby'. It's not the first time my sister stole my games and krap so I have no one to blame but myself... So... I have a new style NES with two old controllers, no games and no hook ups! Let's start the bidding at one American dollar!

sorry DMiller, no genny games for you. ;/

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 11th July 2007

...Dog bones?

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 11th July 2007

Yes. Dogbones. I had two = Dogbones.

Much more comfy and pretty, much more pretty and comfy.

Good for hands.

Good.

For hands.

***EBAY*** - A Black Falcon - 11th July 2007

New-model NESes are awesome, and usually more expensive than old-model ones...

***EBAY*** - EdenMaster - 11th July 2007

lazyfatbum Wrote:So... I have a new style NES with two old controllers, no games and no hook ups! Let's start the bidding at one American dollar!

That's interesting, considering I have a few NES games and hookups but no functional NES (it's more of a decoration in my collection than a piece of useable hardware :D).

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 11th July 2007

Edenmaster; Make me laugh and its yours.

***EBAY*** - Dark Jaguar - 11th July 2007

Oh, you are calling the remodelled NES controllers "dog bones". I guess they do kinda look like bones. I always thought of them as more rounded SNES style controllers.

I picked one of those up myself about a year ago when Nintendo actually was still selling them brand new at their online store. They are nice. I'm using it with my old model NES. After opening it up and fixing up the connector pins by prying them all up just a tad (long tedious process I'll tell you, I kept getting distracted by random thoughts and coming back forgetting I was in the middle of something). I also clipped a single pin on the 10NES lockout chip (the new model doesn't even have this chip), and as a result I have a system that works just as fine, but also has A/V out and not just RF like the remodel. I also kept an old model controller because that shape is needed for ROB.

***EBAY*** - EdenMaster - 11th July 2007

Make you laugh? Hmm...

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 11th July 2007

that caused me to question your morality and ability to possibly WHY MEAT?

Keep going....

***EBAY*** - lazyfatbum - 16th July 2007

Okay, mom's house cleaned out of my stuff. I'm missing a bunch of things... in the Power Rangers collection my Titanus (93) is gone as well as the White Lion Zord (95)... a bunch of my Aliens (92) and Predator (93) stuff is gone... but I did find my loose collection with all their parts including my Jurassic Park stuff (even the goofy handpuppets I used to chase my ferrets Podo and Kodo around with) and all the McDonald's/Burger King toys (though some was heavily damaged, racoons probably) but I found Knuckles, Sonic a loose Tails, Dr. Robotnik and all the starwars weird stuff like those Taco Bell cups that have giant character heads... weird. Found my Godzilla toys too including (still in the package) the Godzilla cupholder.

So list and pics up tonight hopefully. Once the toys are done I can start selling. I'm hoping for lots of monies but I dunno, we'll see.

*excited*
