Seriously. It's like if Grand Theft Auto merged with Robocop, but instead of being bulky and slow, Robocop was really fast and you could jump a hundred feet into the air. It's that awesome.
Basically, you're a Super-Cop that can do whatever he wants in the fight against viscious gangs. You can kill guys by kicking them in the head. You can jump from rooftops to rooftops like Batman on steriods. You can drive fast cars. It's like everything that Grand Theft Auto did right multipled by AWESOME and WIN. This game is the greatest thing ever. I mean that.

So how many perfectly innocent people who were just at the wrong place at the wrong time have you killed and/or merely destroyed theire livelihoods due to your complete lack of due process?

I'm talking about being judge, jury, and executioner. You do TRY to make sure you have an actual crime before dispensing justice, right? Just think, what would Superman do? Oh right, probably level half the city because he would never go "too far" and kill the villian, in spite of the fact that the battle itself likely killed hundreds "off screen".
Let's face it, as cool as super heroes may be, we really don't actually WANT any of them in our world.

The world of Crackdown is a very dangerous place. Armed gangs roam the streets and kill innocent bystanders and get into massive fire-fights with the police on a constant basis. They have machine guns, rocket launchers, and grenades. The entire city is gripped in fear and violence. But, yes, let's make sure we restain ourselves because someone might get hurt if we start fighting back.

I'm just saying if you go crazy you may end up killing just as many innocent people. This isn't a surgical strike with trained SWAT team members who have good trigger control. You are taking out an entire building because someone flipped you a sign that could possibly be linked to gang behavior.
We have the technology. Just use the pain beam I linked to earlier. ALL scenarios are easily resolved with it, ALL of them. Name one situation where a proper use of a PAIN BEAM would not dissolve it.

When I walk down the street I get shot at by machine guns and rocket launchers, sometimes from dark alleys and other times from the tops of skyscrapers. Most of the time it's both.

You seriously overestimate the ability of a human to resist this sort of pain for more than a second. They can't aim, they can't shoot, they WILL run. Willpower is an illusion best suited for anime heroes.

Depends on how long they can withstand the pain beam. It can be omnidirectional you know, and "on" for not just a short burst but CONSTANT. Just you wait, that game may just get modded... wait it's not out for PC is it? Oh well, still that would be one "god mode" of majorness. I mean what are they going to do? Hide? They can't shoot around corners, just the FINGERS alone will be in enough pain to make them drop it instantly. Basically this robot will be able to treat the entire criminal syndicate like a bad dog.

The robot would work in dispersing an unruly mob where perhaps a handful of people have nothing more than a handgun, NOT in Crackdown against a highly trained and highly equipped syndicate where gangs roam the streets, hide in alleys, and snipe from the tops of skycrapers with no regard for collateral damage.

All of these assume the people aren't running away in sheer terror. What reason do you have to believe the sniper, the distractors, the guy with the rocket launcher, and the guys with the truck, won't all just run away in pain? It can be omnidirectional and you'd have to be pretty frickin' far away.
The painbot solves all war situations.

That's generally what sniper rifles and rocket launchers are used for.
And, in Crackdown, you're talking about HIGHLY trained and HIGHLY disciplined soldiers who have no problem throwing themselves at you even after you've killed a hundred of their predecessors. They might run away from the first blast, but you can bet that they'd come back with a plan of attack the second time the robot comes around.
And using the painbot with omnidirectional painray at over a thousand feet is definitely going to disrupt people's lives.
