I mean everything, including the music apparentely.

Quote:Eno is already working on a program called "The Shuffler," which will use sampled bits and pieces to craft Spore's soundtrack, without ever creating "the same composition twice within a lifetime."

I think I'll add I hope that the massive "track" that's generated is saved as it's played (not as a wave, but more of an in-game based midi if you catch my meaning, to fully recreate the songs at a small file size). I say this because if it happens to generate a real gem, I want to be able to pull that sucker back up.

I wonder if the music will be based on what's happening on screen. That's my impression of it, anyway.

By the way, Brian Eno's music is perfect for this kind of game.

It always been my experience that randomizing a songs track has always produced musically offensive compositions. For the most part this program better have an musical "ear", or have a situational based engine, or these songs are really gonna suck.

I assuming that this isn't taking a number of songs and breaking them into parts that play in differing order, but a program that synthesizes a continuous stream of music from a catalog of various musical components that are played depeding on what's occuring on-screen.

And you should really listen to some of Brian Eno's music. Simply put, the kind of music he makes is very well suited to this type of program.

I agree, and that method of breaking it into parts sounds interesting...
