Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - A Black Falcon - 1st August 2006 After Mortal Kombat V for the GC did okay, Midway decided to release a late port of MK: Deception (the next one) on the GC, but I don't think it sold very well... I thought after that one MK for Nintendo was done for a while, and the announcement of Armageddon as "the last current-gen MK game" and as being for just the PS2 and Xbox confirmed that... but now it's coming to the Wii also. Take that as "Wii is last gen" if you will, but I'd call it good news... MK might not be my favorite Midway franchise, but if we're getting one... how about Gauntlet for Wii (I really wanted Seven Sorrows, five hours long or not... why is it only on PS2/Xbox after the last two Gauntlet titles were on Nintendo also... :()? :) I'd ask for Rush too, but after the abysmal quality of LA Rush (not on GC? Good, keep it away! Awful game...), I don't think that's such a good idea... http://wii.ign.com/articles/722/722491p1.html Quote:August 1, 2006 - Publisher Midway on Tuesday revealed to IGN that it is planning to bring its new entry into the bloody Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, to Nintendo's Wii console. The title will arrive for the system in the first quarter of next year, according to representatives for the company. Here's the character select screen... 62 playable characters. ![]() (will I get it? Nah, probably not... I keep thinking of maybe getting a $7 copy of Deadly Alliance (MK V), but just can't convince myself that it's actually really worth the money and/or time...) Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - Dark Jaguar - 1st August 2006 Joy unsurpassed. A new Mortal Kombat game. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - A Black Falcon - 1st August 2006 :D Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - A Black Falcon - 2nd August 2006 http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=10317 How about something more general then... major third parties are increasing their Wii support. Midway, EA, and Ubisoft have all said that they're going to be making more for the Wii than they initially thought... yeah, for now most of their lineups are movie cashin games and ports, but that's better than nothing, and better than what they were saying they were going to be releasing on Wii a few months ago... Why? Quote:In general, however, it appears that extremely positive reaction to Nintendo's Wii at E3, alongside the realization that many 'hardcore' game consumers will buy the console in addition to either an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3 has meant notably increased publisher support for the platform in recent weeks. Of course, the continuation of these claims of increased support will depend on sales of the games themselves, but on that issue all we can do is hope that the Wii does better than GC did at holding third parties. With all of the attention it's been getting since E3, that seems quite possible, to say the least... :) Oh yeah, and EA says that Nintendo's first party Wii games are also almost certainly going to be $50, but that's not even remotely surprising or newsworthy. Remember, Microsoft's first party X360 games at launch were $50... The real question -- how expensive will third party games be? Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - Weltall - 2nd August 2006 Seriously, why do they keep making new MK games? I thought the world pretty much stopped giving a shit ten years ago. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - Dark Jaguar - 2nd August 2006 As long as there are 12 year old boys who look at the games and say "wow, his kidneys were punched CLEAN OFF, that means this game is awesome!", they can keep making these games. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - Great Rumbler - 3rd August 2006 The more games, the better. Not that I have any plans to get this game. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to the Wii - A Black Falcon - 3rd August 2006 What I'd like to see from Midway... Midway is good arcade style racing games (like the ones they don't make anymore), Gauntlet, SpyHunter (the new one was fun...), Defender (same)... |
