You've stated your concern over the relatively slow development of battery tech relative to microprocessor development. Well, here's a pretty in depth explanation of battery technology and why it isn't really anything like a microprocessor (ie, you can't just bump the power by packing in more circuits). On another note, microprocessors are pretty much not the norm for technological advancement, they are more of the exception, but one that has spoiled the average consumer to the point where anything that doesn't double in 5 years is seen as "developing far too slowly".
