Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 9th May 2006

So then, it finally happened. I predicted this move back during Super Mario World days (I just thought "it's just the next step up isn't it?).

Flying into worm holes eh? What weird wild alien species exist in his universe? I suspect suction cup aliens and crazy go nuts stuff, and also maybe the borg, I dunno. I hopes we get to go back to the Star Road.

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 9th May 2006

Looks great, doesn't it? :)

Super Mario Galaxy - The Former DMiller - 9th May 2006

It looks incredible. It won't be a launch title as I was hoping, but having a Zelda game as a launch title certainly offsets the fact that there won't be a Mario game at launch.

Super Mario Galaxy - Rocky Raccoon - 9th May 2006

where did you hear it won't be launch? egm said it would be. :(

Super Mario Galaxy - The Former DMiller - 10th May 2006

Oh, well I was just assuming it wasn't a launch game since they didn't mention it at the conference. I figured if it was a launch game they would make a big deal about it.

Super Mario Galaxy - Rocky Raccoon - 10th May 2006

it's playable at e3 today though, isn't it?

Super Mario Galaxy - Rocky Raccoon - 10th May 2006

yup, ign says it's playable, and they call it a possible flagship wii game.

Super Mario Galaxy - lazyfatbum - 10th May 2006

wang CHUNG! They better have it at launch.

I'm gonna make a post in the wii stuff thread about what is known about each game. But so far what i can tell with SMG is that gravity will play a major role in the gameplay, each planet and moon has it's own gravity and obviously flying is back but i'm not sure how it works yet. No mention of Yoshi, Luigi or anything yet but i'm assuming it will not have co-op play. Instead, it will probably have tons of mini-games and special 4 player arenas just like Mario 64 DS and NSMB.

Just so there's no confusion - this is Miyamoto's Mario game that he's been working on since he released Mario 64, Mario Galaxy is Mario 128, finkle is einhorn, einhorn is finkle.

Super Mario Galaxy - Paco - 10th May 2006

a little low poly, but that's not a concern. I can't wait to play it.

Super Mario Galaxy - Great Rumbler - 10th May 2006

Quote:a little low poly, but that's not a concern. I can't wait to play it.

Low poly? Look at how smooth all the surfaces are. And how far the draw-distance is.

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 10th May 2006

Higher quality, downloadable version of that second video. Download now, it looks great... though the person spends most of the video figuring out how to play. :)

Super Mario Galaxy - Great Rumbler - 10th May 2006

I just finished download that, too me over an hour though. Super Mario Galaxy looks AMAZING, plain and simple.

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 10th May 2006

Holy... ABF what sort of server are they using? A Texas Instruments 37 calculator?

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 10th May 2006

65MB... and yeah it's not super fast, but not THAT slow... an hour? Didn't take anywhere near that long.

But either way, it's worth it to get a much better quality version of the video and really see how great this game looks... :)

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 10th May 2006

My transfer rate is 9 KILOLBYTES PER SECOND! I'm not blaming you ABF, and maybe it's just a matter of serious lag due to a lot of people hammering the site right now, but the fact is that while the download isn't that big, I'm sucking it up through a straw right now!

Super Mario Galaxy - Rocky Raccoon - 10th May 2006

looks pretty cool

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 10th May 2006

Patience, DJ, it's not like just because it's downloading you can't do anything else on your computer until it finishes... :)

Anyway, by now it sure should be done.

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 10th May 2006

Nope, not yet :D. It is still downloading at a very slow rate. I may have seemed angry but it was for comedic effect. I was basically just saying "yes, it is in fact very slow". I can wait, I'm just saying that if you doubt it is that slow, then I'm here to tell you, yes it is.

Incredible, just incredible... this movie is even better than the last one! More planets, Bullet Bills, a giant robot boss... watch!

Super Mario Galaxy - lazyfatbum - 11th May 2006

hahahaha! Mario of the Colossus??

this game is going to be amazing, now someone please just kill me because i'm not going to survive 5 months without this.

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 11th May 2006

You seem to have survived a few decades without it, a few months couldn't hurt.

I will confess though, that my entire life I've always felt something was missing. I know now that THIS is what it was all along.

Super Mario Galaxy - Great Rumbler - 11th May 2006

Your life will never be complete without the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 11th May 2006

And then it will be complete! I will achieve perfection!

Then what? Oh dear! WITH NOTHING LEFT TO DO ALL I HAVE TO LIVE FOR IS TO END THE UNIVERSE!

Super Mario Galaxy - Great Rumbler - 12th May 2006

You can play the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy - Dark Jaguar - 12th May 2006

Oh, I suppose I could couldn't I?

Then what?

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 12th May 2006

Play more Wii!

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 12th May 2006

Huh, Mario Galaxy is being made by Nintendo Tokyo (DK Jungle Beat), not EAD... a bit surprising. I guess it shows that they're good...

Super Mario Galaxy - Great Rumbler - 12th May 2006

With Shigeru Miyamoto at the helm, it doesn't matter what group or company makes it.

Super Mario Galaxy - A Black Falcon - 12th May 2006

Or yes, maybe it shows that instead... :)
