Rumble City Archives - The Former DMiller - 20th April 2006 Okay, I know somebody, or a few people, have the archives of RC around, and I was wondering if I could get them from somebody. I was doing some reminiscing tonight with some of the old threads here since I have nothing better to do, and would love to see some of the threads from the old hangout. Rumble City Archives - Weltall - 20th April 2006 There is only one copy of them right now, on a hard drive that belongs to me, in lazyfatbum's possession. So he needs to like, get that back to me. Rumble City Archives - A Black Falcon - 20th April 2006 Yeah, it was great when there was a bunch of archives on the server... :( Rumble City Archives - Weltall - 20th April 2006 Yeah, but they were devouring enormous amounts of disk space. They had to go. Rumble City Archives - The Former DMiller - 20th April 2006 How much space did they take up? If it's not too bad I could put them on my serve. I have a few hundred megs available that I don't plan on filling up anytime soon. That is, if lazy ever gets them back to you. Rumble City Archives - A Black Falcon - 21st April 2006 It's not a COMPLETE archive, it's just Rumble City/old TC, not the ikonboard or ezboard periods. But since it's UBB, it's larger than you'd expect... I don't remember the exact size, but it was taking up a surprisingly large amount of the space of the 500MBs we have available, considering the size of the archive compared to what we've accumulated over the last three years. So I understand why it was removed from the server and agree (there just wasn't enough free space here), having it available in some form would be great... Rumble City Archives - Weltall - 21st April 2006 The archives, when they were on the server, were humongous. UBB was dreadfully inefficient. Each page of each thread had a full .html page, and a corresponding .cgi page. A full, 40-post thread page was around 90-100KB. Multiply that by about three thousand. Once I killed the .cgi files, which were useless to the archive, that fell by half, but it was still too much. Now, on that hard drive, I have every Rumble City thread converted into a viewable page, complete with smilies, graphics and icons. So, if I get it back, and I can have someone like etoven find a way to set up a thread listing page for all of the threads, that's good to go. The TC archives were a little messier, as several threads got corrupted, but they shouldn't be too hard to fix.
