Right now, Nintendo is trying to figure out where to store the money, they have made funiture out of one thousand dollar bills, and clothes as well, but there just isnt enough room on Earth for all the money they're making. It would take an act of God to slow this thing down now. And even God would have a hard time.

The PSP wins 2nd place in the same sense that neanderthal is currently in 2nd place.

ACT of GOD

The Game Boys have always done well, but THIS kind of domination? Pushing the major consoles out of sight? I don't think so... it's extremely impressive for Nintendo, to say the least... they get their strongest handheld competition probably ever and respond with what is becoming the most successful console in Japan? Uh, wow?

And they've done it by attracting casual gamers and nongamers... with products designed for people who don't play games... and it WORKED! ... obviously Nintendo's marketing division isn't nearly as incompetent in Japan as it is over here? :) But really, it is doing pretty well in the US and Europe too... there just isn't this kind of market domination going on. The DS is just winning the handheld war... and not by as much as it is in Japan... it isn't doing what it is there yet. Animal Crossing and Nintendogs have been big for attracting casual gamers, but it'll be very interesting to see how well Brain Training does here; it's clearly a massive success there, with three Brain Training titles in the top 10... Simslike numbers, those! :)

Nintendo still needs to smash the PSP and reassert complete dominance.

You don't think they are smashing the PSP?

After all these months, it's still Easter in Japan - Great Rumbler - 12th January 2006

They are in Japan anyway.

He means to litteraly cause the PSP to fold and exit the market.

Given the current standing of things, I can see that happening. But the PSP is niching out an audience... but that audience is the same group who has to be the latest and greatest cell phones, girls with blinking pink Razors and guys with fully optimized blackberries or video phones. They're buying it because they think they want the hardware , not for the games. What Sony needs right now is something that totally seperates the PSP, that gives it an edge.

With both handhelds now on a network, someone needs to hit the market with cellphone-like interfaces. Internet phones are cheap and easy, once you buy the enitial program the service is free. Giving you unlimited calling with no monthly subscription as long as the person you're calling also has a PSP or DS.

Literally fold?

I think you mean figuratively fold, in which case you don't need to say figuratively as it's implied in that sentence.

What does this thread title mean? I'm afraid the meaning is lost on me. Easter?

And, the PSP doesn't seem to have some single network. It has online support, and some online games, but I don't think they exist on Sony's own servers. I think Sony is still lesse fairing it up when it comes to it's online method. The internet browser it has needs an existing network. It's just like your PC in that way.

However, I have yet to read about any online games aside from the upcoming SOCOM thing. You heard anything different?

N_A was implying that Nintendo should completely dominate the market by ousting the PSP from the Japanese market and follow suit with other regions.

They wouldn't be the first company to throw in the towel with a handheld. And Sony's only interest is profit.. cut too much profit and they cut ties. We haven't seen this with their gaming hardware, but we've seen it thousands of times with everything else they do.

Actually, I had only assumed that Sony has internal network support, I didn't realize it was essentially just a modem. But the process works similar enough for the I-Phone to take hold, though it would seem the DS would out-do Sony there as well. Free, internal network that everyone will be on, built in mic and, if a cam were to be released, the dual screens would allow the video of the person chatting on the top screen and the game on the buttom. This would work great for simple games to play while video-chatting. I say simple games because you would probably want most of the bandwidth devoted to the chat.

The Easter refference I believe is because the DS first hit major sales last Easter and has continued it's sales growth since.. or that Japan is more confused than I thought regarding pagan festivals. Either way, the giant bunny wins.

It's a GAF inside-joke. Some confused soul thought there were going to be high game sales during a week in Japan because of Easter. Japan does not celebrate Easter. Now though it's been used to describe the period of time that the DS has outsold the PSP.

Thus proving that logic makes no sense.

After all these months, it's still Easter in Japan - A Black Falcon - 12th January 2006

Yeah, Sony's not leaving... PSP is actually selling decently in Japan, hardware-units-wise. They just aren't selling must software to go with those consoles... and I bet that it's similar here, though not as extreme. It's a media device, not a games console...

After all these months, it's still Easter in Japan - Dark Jaguar - 12th January 2006

How so lazy? After all, the irony is you could only show logic makes no sense by using logic, thus showing it does make sense, and so on and so on ad-shot my own grandpa.

Japan doesn't celebrate Easter eh? In the past I would have thought the same thing, but here's the deal. A lot of christian churches are springing up in Japan. They do celebrate Christmas oddly enough... If the idea of celebrating yet another originally heathen but mutated holiday like Easter crossed the seas, there's a possibility a significant, though still minority, number of people might actually be celebrating it.

Maybe, but it's not a big holiday like New Year's.

I think it's awesome that we teach our children to celebrate a day about how much rabbits do the nasty

Indeed, I'd never suggest it was as big as the Gregorian calender system's date for the New Year.

to lazy: Yes it is very educational. Apparently they lay eggs.

Sony is in it for the profit ? What profit ?

After all these months, it's still Easter in Japan - lazyfatbum - 12th January 2006

holy god that was lmao "IT PRINTS MONEY!!!"

N_A/ Well they are finding a niche. It's actually not unlike the GC's (PSP) share of the pie compared to the PS2 (DS). The difference is, the GC survives because of AAA first and second party titles. I dont see the PSP lasting another year with its current standing nor do I see AAA titles on the horizon.

I thought a GTA game would put them over the top and I was dead wrong, now the only thing that Sony is known for, major third party support, is the only thing most Sony followers are used to and expect, and they're not getting that with PSP... and I dont think they ever will. Third parties ignore the GC for the same reason - when there's bigger installed markets, why even bother with the smallest one? why develop for PSP when you could develop for DS and make more money, reach a larger audience and target your specific demographic? And if the devs are willing to push; give an online experience that is easy and free and that everyone is a part of who owns a DS. I just doesnt make sense to develop for the PSP.

DJ/ CHOCOLATE eggs, my friend. God is going to very disapointed in your lack of education on matters of pagan rituals. Now help me draw my 'Pentagram of Love' so we can burn the children and bathe in their fluids.

I'm not drawing with THAT. Those are the worst smelling feces I've ever smelled.

But I WILL draw the most inner mind's eye of HORROR images for children's horror book stories!
