There's a teaser flash that makes the film look incredibly promising. If it doesn't load, then hit "replay intro".

Looks very interesting.

In the wtf picture, those are obviously gas-mask wearing freaks of some type holding bird cages to test for gas. What this has to do with Silent Hill is beyond me. I hope they dont make Silent Hill a 'real' place where a 'gas' has 'infected' people turning them in to 'monsters' because that would 'suck'.

Mining canaries seem just a bit outdated...

Yeah, the "fog" better not be some poison...

This is definitely not the case since the main character runs around everywhere without a gas mask.

....that's weird logic

Both of the plot summaries I read mention demonic doings, but none say anything about poisonous fog.

By the way, I really like this picture:

Maybe the gas-mask/canary guys are the wandering souls of miners who became trapped in Silent Hill. Or they're fodder for Pyramid Head. Whatever works.

If not ghosts, insane demons with an odd look to them.

And yeah, the "fog" could be a slow acting monsterfication thing, but yeah, no real reason to think that.

Still, it does make one wonder. What would a full scale military campaign be worth in such a situation? I mean, in the games a SINGLE untrained person can do a lot.

That's because all the games are happening in the dream of another person so anything is possible. It's very Jacob's Ladder-ish.

Neither of the daughters nor the unholy God had a fear of gas or being poisoned and the fog/darkness in the game is more of an iconic idea of being inside someone's tortured mind that isn't very clear. And this is supposed to be somewhere around SH 3 which means Harry is dead and his daughter (the unholy God purged of its demons) that he took back from SH is returning there because of the murder of her father and that SH wont let her go (she had to spend a few days in the mall because of a nightmare)

If it is SH3's story, I hope the Phallus Smashers make an appearance.

I don't think the girl is the same as in the first game. According to plot summaries I've read, Rose's daughter is sick [and she dreams about a town called Silent Hill] and she decides to take her to Silent Hill because a faith healer supposedly lives there. Rose's husband sends a police officer to bring back his wife.

I read in an interview that the story is an original story that is pretty much Silent Hill 1's plot minus Harry, plus a lot of elements from the second game and some from the 3rd. The mysterious cult's going to be involved in the movie, too. (and did anyone else notice p-head in the teaser?)

And as far as the picture in my OP, I doubt a virus or evil gas is involved. The picture makes no sense if you think about it, which is perfect for the series. People walking around with a coal mine canary... in a building... and I've never seen coal miner uniforms that looked like that. They look more like monsters, or something.
