Right now: Reno / Bruce Springsteen / Devils & Dust

We're so goddamn like the same person.

Have you seen any of those bands live? I saw the Doors last summer, minus Jim Morrison of course, and they were incredible. They only played for an hour since they were one of 5 bands playing, but that hour was so great. The guy they have to replace Morrison was really good. He doesn't sound exactly like him, but he has so much energy and stage presence. The rest of the band is all of the original members, and Ray Manzarek, the Doors keyboardist, talked to the audience a lot. There was a lot of good audience banter, as opposed to ZZ Top, who played afterwards, who just stood up there and played. They were still good, but the Doors set the bar pretty high.

I also saw the Who right after John Entwistle died, so I guess I saw half of the Who. They were really good as well, but obviously not as crazy as their early years. It's funny to listen to the lyrics of My Generation when they sing "I hope I die before I get old" and they are all in their fifties. Roger Daltrey can still get his voice up pretty high, but nowhere near his peak. Pete Townshend is still one of the greatest guitarists ever, however. I also saw Robert Plant open for the Who so I've seen 1/4th of Led Zeppelin. He played mostly his new stuff, which was decent, but they did play three Zeppelin songs. Although it wasn't the same as the original band playing, hearing Plant sing those songs live was great.

I'll be seeing Paul McCartney this October so I'll knock of another of the top 5. I've also heard the Rolling Stones are going to be touring sometime later this year or early next year so I'll try to see them to.

I'd like to see Paul McCartney in concert.

Quote:Good gravy, when are you not listening to that song?

What are you talking about? I hadn't listened to that song in several months before I listened to it then.

I've been listening to a lot of Queen for the past four days.

Queen rules.

I'm listening to American Dad on my TV. The new Family Guy ruled. :D

You know it!

The part where Peter kept looking at the comic book nearly had me in tears! :D

The "guy they got to replace Morrison" in the Doors is Ian Astbury, former lead vocalist for The Cult (also former band of Matt Sorum who replaced Steven Adler in Guns N Roses, and now Velvet Revolver). I like the Cult better than the Doors so I think it's too bad Astbury is doing that gig, but I'm a hard rock guy anyway. At any rate, you all should check out some of their better songs, like Fire Woman, Sweet Soul Sister and Love Removal Machine.

Queen is indeed awesome.

Fact about Queen that ties in with Tendo City theme: take a look at the playlist for their "Queen II" album. Song 6: Ogre Battle. Song 9: March of the Black Queen. Always thought that was cool.

also, god I'm such a music geek

Yeah... I liked the Passion of the Christ II trailer. :D

Unfortunately, my mom was watching that part of the show in another room and she started ranting at me about how sacreligious it was later. She couldn't see that it was a joke and was making fun of Mel Gibson more than it was of Jesus.

I'm so glad Family Guy is back. It looks like they didn't miss a beat with the new episode. I loved how Peter said at the beginning of the show that Family Guy was canceled because Fox had a number of great shows in their lineup, and he then proceeded to list every show (most of them crappy) that Fox had canceled since Family Guy went off the air. I also liked how Peter convinced congress to go to war against Iraq by insinuating that anyone who doesn't want war is gay.

What song are you listening to right now? - OB1 - 2nd May 2005

Haha, yes. Funny episode.

Some of the shows he mentioned were great, though. He just listed all of their cancelled shows, and it just so happens that most of them sucked. :D

Stewie: Did I remember to turn of the stove...yes.

:D

What song are you listening to right now? - Darunia - 5th May 2005

I said that the new episode met my demands without exceeding them--and that's just how I feel. The funniest part was probably when Peter read the Archie comic while driving twice, and then crashed... and then slowly started reading it again while Lois was still bitching him out. Rofl

What song are you listening to right now? - Great Rumbler - 6th May 2005

Yeah, that part was great. :D

Also the part where Stewie was spanking Chris and Brian is leaning against the back of the car smoking a ciggarette.

I liked when Brian dragged his butt along the carpet. :D

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover.

The Live From Austin, Texas album is probably one of my current all-time favorites.

Lately it's been The New Pornographers, Metric, and a resurgence of rap music. Ghostface, Raekwon, Nas, and Mos Def.
