MGS3 released in Australia. - Private Hudson - 17th March 2005

I only just started. But so far my impressions are..

Just.. wow.

Stealth does NOT get more fun than crawling through long grass in jungle camaflague trying to avoid alligators.

I also loved the whole "pretending it's going to be another Raiden protagonist" thing they had going on at the start. :D

I got out my knife and cut down a beehive, and then the bees attacked me. :(

I'll post more as I go through it, I'm sure OB1 will love the discussion. :)

YES! I'm glad it's finally out over there. Best game of last year.

MGS3 released in Australia. - A Black Falcon - 17th March 2005

Not for Austrailians... :)

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 17th March 2005

Yeah, poor guys. But they got lots of extra stuff.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 17th March 2005

Extra stuff? What didn't we, the US of freakin' A, get denied?!

It takes a while to adjust to not having a radar. I find myself getting caught far more often than in MGS1/2, and then it's really difficult to get away from the soldiers and hide. But then again, I have only just gotten past the 'introduction' part of the game, so I never got any really good weapons or anything like that to defend myself with. Nor have I tried using any of the other really cool things in the game, like throwing a snake near a guard. :D I've pretty much just been killing them, and dragging their bodies into some long grass.

Oh, the camouflage and healing systems seem to be really neat. I can't wait to see what the game really has to offer.

The title sequence [which is about an hour into the game] was awesome. Very James Bond-esque.

Girl, we got the game six months before them. That's a pretty damn big extra! Lol

Once you get a few more items you won't need a radar. Kojima took it out because he thought it was too cheap, and I agree. :)

Not really... it's only half a year. I could have waited if it meant extra gameplay features. So, what gameplay features are in it that we missed out on? Tell me why they didn't delay it here! I would NOT have minded a few month's wait! I mean, waiting a few months for a complete game is fine, that's only a few months. Releasing NOW an incomplete game and it's incomplete FOREVER.

You get a motion detector, which is perfectly suitable as a radar. Just remember that batter power charges in all items. It was sad that I went through half of the game before I realized this. So, feel free to use them often. And make sure you tranq "kill" all the bosses for their camo. Otherwise if you use lethal guns, you don't get their camo.

The Pain: tranq all the way to get his camo, which allows you to shoot bee hives and have them stick to you to attack enemies.

Ocelot: animal pattern clothing

The Fear: Spider camo. Works for 80% hidden anywhere. Be careful, your stamina drains incredibly fast as a side effect.

The End: Unlike the rest of the bosses, you have to hold him up from behind to make him drop the Moss camo. Very good camo that recharges stamina in the sun. Tranqing gets you his tranq sniper rifle.

The Fury: Fire pattern camo. Makes you invincible to fire.

The Sorrow: Follow him until he stops floating down the river. Then get close so he touches you and kills you, then take the revival pill. Easiest boss in the game. You get his ghost camo, which makes it so enemies can't hear your foot steps. (you can end the "fight" early by letting yourself die from the walking ghosts. But you can't get his nifty camo if you do this.)

Volgin: Camo with soviet flag on front, american flag on back. Enemies won't shoot at you when you're facing them.

The Boss: Snake camo. Don't know what this does yet.

The wonderful thing about the game is that you get to keep all your equipment and camo after you beat it.

We GOT the complete game! They just added some extra crap to the Australian and European releases as compensation for the terrible wait they had to endure. The game we have is the full game. I for one could not have waited six months to play MGS3. :)

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 17th March 2005

Goodie, as payment you have sacrificed the extras they gave to those who could!

But again, I must know WHAT I missed out on. DETAILS! If it's just a "making of" DVD then I don't care, but if it's gameplay...

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 17th March 2005

Not much gameplay stuff. Just extras, like the special cinema mode.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 17th March 2005

And? I'm talking like full list here :D.

MGS3 released in Australia. - A Black Falcon - 17th March 2005

I like radars... somewhat cheap, but so helpful... not as good as maps, though.

Dark Jaguar Wrote:And? I'm talking like full list here :D.

Basically the same stuff those guys got with MGS2. Just extra crap, like I said. Neat crap, but nothing important. You can find a full list at ign or somewhere.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 18th March 2005

Thank you for being so helpful... I really wasn't asking for your opinion on the value of the additional stuff, just what it was. You sure IGN has a list of the Australia-specific features? I have a very hard time finding "differences" guides online except maybe at GameFAQs from time to time.

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 18th March 2005

Hey I'm not going to go searching for that stuff. I read about it before but can't think of specifics, so find it yourself you lazy ass.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 18th March 2005

Look I was just asking a question because it seemed like you knew the list, and that WAS me finding out myself. That's HOW you find out things, you ask people you think might know.

If I knew you totally forgot, I wouldn't have pressed it. It just seemed like you were hiding the knowledge just to prove a point or something. For future reference, all you need do is say "I forgot" and that'll be that.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Private Hudson - 18th March 2005

We also get things like a European Extreme difficulty setting. Which is.. well, it's not fun.

I played Euro Extreme for a while on MGS2:SoL, but only got as far as the part where you're in the tanker, trapped behind some boxes, and enemies are continually attacking you from down the corridor behind other boxes.... it's been too long since I played it, but I'm sure it's a major part of hte Tanker story.

Hmm.. I did have some things I was going to comment on, but I've forgotten them. Still, great game. And a lot of the dialogue is hilarious! I particularly love the early conversations with EVA, when she unzips her top, when you press the R1 button during the cutscenes to look through Snake's perspective, he's ALWAYS staring right at her breasts. :D:D:D:D:D

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 18th March 2005

Well isn't that just like a gentleman... I thought he was immune to the infamous magazine distraction...

Oh and, we got the european extreme mode in MGS2 Substance. Substance added enough stuff to make it awesome, like the Snake's tails. Certainly things I'd rather have than not anyway.

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 18th March 2005

Well you can always move to Australia and wait six months for the newest releases.

Quote:For future reference, all you need do is say "I forgot" and that'll be that.

In the future you need to go to ign.com and do a simple search for whatever game you're trying to find out info from, if by the second post you haven't gotten any information from me. It's EASIER and FASTER.

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 18th March 2005

GameFAQs generally doesn't have the very abnormal info I tend to look for.

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 18th March 2005

gamefaqs?

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 19th March 2005

Yes them...

Wait...

IGN, that's what I meant. GameFAQs DOES have the odd info I look for, well a lot of the time.

MGS3 released in Australia. - OB1 - 19th March 2005

What's so abnormal about this information?

MGS3 released in Australia. - Dark Jaguar - 19th March 2005

Oh, YOU know, it's information that actually interests me. Isn't that enough?

...

Look I'm giving you a clean shot here. Are you going to take it or what?
