I bet the PS2 version does poorly as well tho.

That's what happens when you take away exclusivity, Capcom! Nintendo gamers only care about exclusives!

Fools.

Pretty much, yeah... and PS2 gamers don't care much about sidescrollers I think.

Baaad move on Capcom's part. Didn't they know about how Nintendo fans don't give a rat's ass about non-exclusive games? Why do they think multiplatform titles sell so horribly on the GC???

Because all multiplatform games released on GC are awful games of course.

However, exclusives don't always sell great either... see P.N.03, REmake, RE0...

On top of that, MP2 sold, in November, 200,000 copies. Yeah. 200,000. That's all. While Halo raked in 3,700,000. Pathetic.

The sad thing is that for a GC title MP2 didn't sell too badly...

:(

It actually sold well for an opening week. Sad little GC...

According to Nintendo fans, yes.

Imagine if Prince of Persia and BG&E were announced as exclusives for the GC. Every Nintendo fan out there would take notice instead of ignoring them, and would see just how awesome (and even Nintendo-like!) they are. Perhaps they would have done better. At least BG&E would have.

*notes OB1 ignores point about not all exclusives selling well either*

Those were special cases though. M-rated games don't sell on the cube. At all. ED proved that, Twin Snakes proved that, REmake proved that.

And shooters don't sell well period, I know... but I can see why they'd want to release it on PS2 too to get better sales. But was it worth it for them? That is, will the combined sales be larger enough than the potential if it'd just been released on GC to make up for the added development costs?

No.

REmake sold well and 0 sold a bit better.

Neither sold really well...

Which was my point... but yes, the 'mature games don't sell on GC either' defence does seem kind of true doesn't it... poor ED...

Erm

Your point was that exclusives don't sell well either... but that's not entirely true. M-rated exclusives usually don't sell that well. The first VJ sold really well, as did the Monkey Ball games, the Sonic games (when they were exclusive), and SCII (which only needed an exclusive Nintendo character to sell like crack).
