The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 31st March 2004 The game is going to be unveiled very shortly, so here's a thread where we can post new screens and info from the game. Quote:March 31, 2004 - Set to debut shortly in the latest issue of Japan's Weekly Famitsu games magazine is a sequel to N64's Paper Mario. Tentatively titled Mario Story 2 for Japan (the original was called Mario Story in Japan), this game is being developed Intelligent Systems (developer of the original along with Metroid Fusion and Advance Wars) for the GameCube. Intelligent Systems is developing it, which is great news as they're my favorite developer, but I guess that also means that we won't be seeing a GC Fire Emblem or Wars game anytime soon. Unless someone else handles the development chores, that is. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 31st March 2004 I see then, so it's going to have that name because it uses the same art style. I still think it's a little odd, considering every Mario RPG so far has had it's own name, and the gameplay style is very much the same across them all, but I guess they just like the paper thin storybook style of Paper Mario so much they had to replicate it. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 31st March 2004 Well it says tentative title, so it could change. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 31st March 2004 Quote:flat Mario will be able to turn into a paper airplane and move around. Sweet! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 31st March 2004 I hope you can turn into origami stuff! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 31st March 2004 What does that have to do with the real American hero, Mario? The Paper Mario 2 Thread - The Former DMiller - 31st March 2004 Intelligent Systems is made up of multiple development teams so they are certainly working on more than just this project. Didn't you read my History of Fire Emblem OB1? There is a team that only develops Fire Emblem games, and the new game is suppose to be announced this April and it's rumored to be for GameCube. I just can't imagine them working on more than one GC project, is all. They're Nintendo's best GBA developer and they prefer 2D over 3D, so I can't see them working on another GC game aside from PM 2. I hope I'm wrong though. I really do. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 31st March 2004 It's called a joke. Casual gamers think Mario is an American creation. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 31st March 2004 What does that have to do with anything in this thread... Are you referring to my comment about him changing into origami figures? I don't quite get what you mean. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 1st April 2004 More awesometastic details! Quote:April 01, 2004 - Since reporting yesterday that Mario and friends would be returning to the RPG scene in the form of Mario Story 2 (Paper Mario in America), new details have come our way. Much of what's been revealed should be familiar to those who played through the original Nintendo 64 title, but those unfamiliar with that game should pay attention. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 1st April 2004 First amazingly gorgeous screens from Paper Mario 2!! WOW this is one beautiful game! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I think I just soiled myself! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 1st April 2004 That does look nice. From the battle scenes, it looks like the battle system is an EXACT copy of Paper Mario. While the Mario RPG series has had similar action oriented turn based battles for a while now (as well as action elements outside of battles), they all differed in their own ways. I suppose I.S. liked their rendition so much they decided not to change a thing (even though Mario & Luigi decided to alter the system themselves, with amazingly fun results) when making Mario RPG 4. Oh well, Paper Mario was a very fun game, and I wouldn't mind one with the exact same gameplay. Still, I guess I expected the next Mario RPG to have it's own uniqueness... Eh, oh well, I'm still looking forward to this. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 1st April 2004 I'm sure there will be some changes to the battle system. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 1st April 2004 Very nice graphics, indeed! ![]() Just look at that!! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Laser Link - 1st April 2004 Wow, very nice. I like how everything is so crisp. I can't wait to hear more about this as well. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 1st April 2004 Yeah, in a game like this, on a system like this, the only thing that one can really ask for is to make it crisp with no jagged edges or any sort of visual artifacts. Seems it does that very well, better than Paper Mario did. It's about the only thing one can do, except make the stuff that's more of a 3D model look good as well. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Geno - 1st April 2004 Lots of red X's! For some reason, the images don't work for me. ![]() I am, however, looking foward to this new game. I enjoyed Paper Mario for the N64, even if it wasn't as good as SMRPG. (Hey, I didn't expect it to be, considering Square wasn't with Nintendo anymore at the time.) The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 1st April 2004 Click on the link. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 1st April 2004 The images worked for me... How odd... Who added those leeched images to the smily list by the way? The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 1st April 2004 That was OB1. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 1st April 2004 I fixed them, poop face! Here's a smiley JUST for you, DJ! :poop: The Paper Mario 2 Thread - big guy - 2nd April 2004 YaY for me this game looks sweet The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 2nd April 2004 Paper Mario 1 was a very good game. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 2nd April 2004 Yes. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 2nd April 2004 Mmmmm, gorgeous direct-feed: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 2nd April 2004 Wow. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - A Black Falcon - 3rd April 2004 ... wow ... Amazing. I thought it'd look good, but that's probably even better... Paper Mario was one of the best, and best looking, games on the N64 and this one looks very similar. Which given how great I think Paper Mario's graphics are is definitely a very good thing. And the gameplay looks similar too... which is also good. And I'm sure some things will change. This surprised me... I didn't think they'd be making another one now, but I'm very happy they are... I'm sure it's from the Paper Mario team since it's still Intelligent Systems, too... :) Mario & Luigi on GBA looks nice, but doesn't come anywhere close to how impressed I am by either Paper Mario or this game's style. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - OB1 - 4th April 2004 Indeed. The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Geno - 5th April 2004 The screenshots work now. They look great! Hurrah! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Dark Jaguar - 5th April 2004 I just noticed a pic I must have scrolled by before. Is that Super Koopio Brothers I see being played up there? That's hilarious! The Paper Mario 2 Thread - Great Rumbler - 5th April 2004 ![]() Woo! |
