Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - The Former DMiller - 8th February 2004

My sister showed me a pretty cool site that has you choosing your stance on a number of issues and it then ranks the presidential candidates, including Bush, based on your choices. The site is www.presidentmatch.com. You can go here to see my rankings. I knew I didn't agree with Bush on a lot, but he really didn't fare too well in my rankings.

About halfway down... not this same poll, but a similar one. :)

Though that one asks more theoretical stuff than this just 'what are your stances on these issues' poll. This is a simpler one, just issues...

And anyway Kerry seems to have the Democratic side mostly wrapped up...

Anyway, I did the thing. No convenient thing to copy like the one I linked... oh well.

Percents seem a bit off -- I don't agree 100% with the person on top (even based on this quiz)...

Kucinich - 100%
Sharpton - 95%
Kerry - 87%
Dean - 84%
Clark - 82%
Edwards - 77%
Bush - 6%

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 8th February 2004

Bush - 100%
Kerry - 71%
Edwards - 71%
Clark - 64%
Dean - 60%
Sharpton - 59%
Kucinich - 48%

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - The Former DMiller - 8th February 2004

You're right, that other poll is much more specific. Here are my results from that one:

1.*Your ideal theoretical candidate. **(100%)
2.*Sharpton, Reverend Al - Democrat **(73%)
3.*Kucinich, Rep. Dennis, OH - Democrat **(72%)
4.*Socialist Candidate **(68%)
5.*Dean, Gov. Howard, VT - Democrat **(68%)
6.*Kerry, Senator John, MA - Democrat **(65%)
7.*Edwards, Senator John, NC - Democrat **(65%)
8.*Clark, Retired General Wesley K., AR - Democrat **(63%)
9.*Libertarian Candidate **(42%)
10.*LaRouche, Lyndon H. Jr. - Democrat **(42%)
11.*Bush, President George W. - Republican **(26%)
12.*Phillips, Howard - Constitution **(13%)

The socialist candidate was the third most viable candidate for me. :o

Did it again.. lets see how it compares! :) The only 'problem' with it is that so many issues are important... :) And nothing is of low importance.

Oh, unclick the 2nd and 3rd boxes in 'Candidate Viability' -- the 2nd one adds the Green Party, and the third for several other third parties. :)

A few percents different in a few but nothing big... the only one worth mentioning is 5% more for Kerry. Wonder what I said differently...

Oh how shocking, Green Party in first. ... wait, I expected that... :)

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 8th February 2004

Huh... Libertarian... as I've said before, that's a strange party...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - geoboy - 8th February 2004

This quiz was pretty accurate in my case.

Kerry - 100%
Dean - 95%
Sharpton - 93%
Clark - 93%
Kucinich - 90%
Edwards - 82
Bush - 54%

I've liked Kerry ever since he kicked off his campaign with his interview on Meet the Press. I never really liked Dean, but after watching the Democratic debate for New Hampshire, I realized I agree with quite a few of the issues he stands on.

I also liked Bush. I'm still happy he won presidency over Gore. I feel like I was the only one who stuck up for Bush when others always called him a bumbling fool. But my feelings have changed this time around and I feel Bush's time is up. We've got better men to take his place.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 8th February 2004

Lyndon LaRouche? Wasn't it one of his 12 or so supporters who Al Franken got in a fight with at a Deaniac Rally?

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 8th February 2004

The one I linked is better, I think, at least for me... DMiller's one is okay but a bit farther off, and it's just got the major party candidates -- I like seeing how I do with the Greens, Libertarians, etc. too.

Ideally I'd say Kucinich, Dean, Kerry, Clark, Edwards, Sharpton, I think... Sharpton has some good views on some issues but just has alienated too many people too many times to be viable at all.

Lyndon LaRouche... he "runs" every time... what an idiot...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 8th February 2004

Actually, it bears noting that Franken actually beat the guy.

If your only vocal supporter in America can be physically bested by Al Franken, of all people, you have no right to run this country. :D

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 8th February 2004

Maine had its caucus today... I didn't go but getting there would probably be hard. Anyway it's not like the outcome is much in doubt... and looking at returns, it wasn't. Kerry won big with almost half the vote... Dean second with ~30, and the surprise (well kinda, though not really when you think about it since he spent way more time here than anyone else) was Kucinich at 15%...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 8th February 2004

Didn't Kucinich do somewhat respectably in another state? I'm thinking Washington.

Quote:Didn't Kucinich do somewhat respectably in another state? I'm thinking Washington.

8% in Washington yesterday, 15% in Maine today... he won't win or anything, but a very good showing for a protest candidate. In Maine I guess all those trips (he came to Maine six times, far more than anyone else) paid off...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 9th February 2004

He actually did better than John Edwards in Washington and Maine!!

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

Yup... Kucinich finished fourth in Washinton and third in Maine... as I said, a pretty good showing. :)

Edwards? I didn't expect him to do well here. He's a southerner... and pro war. Same with Clark... Kerry and Dean are New Englanders, I'd certainly think they'd be on top. And as for Kucinich, he's the most liberal candidate and primaries are for the base, not the mainstream -- protest farther out candidates can get votes.

If I was voting for who I thought had the best policies I'd certainly vote for Kucinich... but he is not electable at all... but he wouldn't win the caucus anyway so there's no harm in voting for him, especially with Kerry doing really well.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 9th February 2004

Tomorrow's the Virginia primary. I'd vote for Dean, but at this point I'd be wasting my time.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - alien space marine - 9th February 2004

Dean is clinicaly dead and has no chance of winning, I guess his little scream scared everyone away. Rofl I guess weltall you wont see him get spit on by Bush after all. Dean is scum some one give him a gun and finnish it off.

To be honnest why dont they just give it to John kerry and stop wasting precious time.Unless Clark or Edwards makes a maraculous come back and start winning loads of states, the hole thing will be pointless as from here we can see Kerry winning most definently.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 9th February 2004

It wasn't a personal thing. It's not even so much that Dean's policies are a little more off-center than the rest, I don't care if Bush ran against Papa Smurf in the end, I just don't want a liberal president. Dean getting the nomination would have pretty much ensured that.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

Pretty much.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - The Former DMiller - 9th February 2004

I'm glad it's coming down to Kerry. He's the one I've followed from the beginning even when I thought he had no chance of winning, and it's good to see him running away with it now. Last election the only candidate I really liked out of both parties was McCain, and I was disappointed when I was forced to choose between Gore and Bush in the election. Now I'll have no problems voting for a candidate for president as I really like Kerry.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 9th February 2004

I was hoping that Edwards would get the nomination...well, actually I was hoping that Leiberman would get the nomination but he never had a chance of getting it.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

Leiberman is a moron. He never had a chance, thankfully. Edwards? Too pro-war and too southern. :) Kerry's good, but I just like Dean more...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - alien space marine - 9th February 2004

I was hoping Gore would come back for a rematch! He seems pretty personal about Bush nowadays I would call it pure rage.

If Bush ever does get elected atleast have the curtesy of nuking the Germans, If Kerry is elected I hope he has Bin ladins head on a platter by 2008.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 9th February 2004

There's nothing wrong with that.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

There is in my book. I'm tired of southerners in office... 11 years now...

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - N-Man - 9th February 2004

I think a team of Kerry (P) and Edwards (VP) would have the best chance, out of all possible combinations, of beating W. I wouldn't particularly mind Kerry as Pres of the US myself, though Edwards would be best out of the Democratic pack IMO (at a glance). Dean and Clark are both maroons, Lieberman and Gephardt just don't stand out enough, and Kucinich and Sharpton are basketcases.

It is all, however, irrelevant, as everyone ought to vote for Ronnie James Dio.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - The Former DMiller - 9th February 2004

Kerry and Edwards would be a great combo. They have a few differences of opinion, but for the most part they have a lot in common. The fact that Edwards is from the south would really help Kerry win.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

Yeah, Kerry-Edwards might make a good ticket, with regional balance and all... and you don't need to agree on everything with your VP. After all the VP doesn't do a whole lot, usually... :)

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 9th February 2004

How about this combination for a Democratic ticket: Dean and Gore.

And their slogan:

Dean and Gore: We yell really loud...for the working man [or woman!]!

And it's very easy to care about the poor when the most stressful financial decision you have to make is which five-thousand dollar suit you're going to wear to the fundraising luncheon that has an entry cost high enough to feed a family of four for a decade.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 9th February 2004

Far better than not caring about the poor like Bush.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 10th February 2004

Democrats don't care any more than Republicans. They just do a better job of pretending to. They tell them what they want to hear.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 10th February 2004

You are just delusional.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - geoboy - 10th February 2004

Weltall Wrote:They tell them what they want to hear.

Oh, so it's exactly like Bush's State of the Union Address last month? Lots of empty promises in that thing.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Weltall - 11th February 2004

Yes. That's politics. We're always told what we want to hear.

It should be known that Bush was never my first choice for President. It was just that he was a much better choice than Gore, and better than any Democrat running now.

I voted for McCain in the 2000 Primary. :S

But yeah, they all tell us what they think we want to hear. So if I'm poor, the Democrats will tell me it's the Republicans' fault. If I'm even employed, I'm probably in a union job. Being poor, I'm probably also uneducated, so there's a good chance I'd be dumb or gullible enough to believe it. Thus, I vote Democrat.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Darunia - 11th February 2004

I matched up 100% for Bush...which is odd, because I was liberal on more than one issue; i.e. removing the 10 Commandments from public buildings, and I'm pretty sure Bush is against that.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Geno - 11th February 2004

I matched up 100% with Kerry. Didn't expect to match up with anyone that much, unless that's the score they automatically give to whomever is in first place when you take the quiz. In last place was Bush. I don't remember my other rankings (I believe Dean was in second) and I don't feel like taking the quiz again to find out my exact rankings.

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - A Black Falcon - 11th February 2004

As I said, it has .. leeway. You don't need to actually agree on all those issues 100% to get 100%, given how I know I disagreed with the person I got 100% from on several categories. As I also said, the one I linked is better. :)

Which Candidate For Prez Do You Most Relate To? - Great Rumbler - 11th February 2004

It looks like the race could be heating up. If Edwards can convince the people who would have voted for Clark to vote for him it could turn into a close race, on the other hand those voters might vote for Kerry instead. We'll just have to see.
