Quote:This time it is Atari cancelling some GameCube titles. Head inside to see which ones bite the dust...

Today at the SEGA event in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, we had a litte chat with Atari. Atari representatives were at the event because Atari distributes the SEGA titles in the Benelux. Unfortunately, Atari brought us some bad news.

Some of you may have already heard of these Cube cancellations. Today Atari confirmed the rumours...

Mission Impossible: Operation Surma, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and Driver 3 will not be released for the Nintendo GameCube.

Fortunately, Atari said we will probably see the sequel to Dragonball Z: Budokai on the Nintendo GameCube. And the following titles are also still on for a release on the GameCube: XGRA, The Powerpuff Girls, Beyblade, Dexter's Laboratory, Carmen San Diego, Kero Kero King, and Digimon Rumble Arena 2.

More coverage of Tuesday's SEGA event will be posted on Cube-Europe throughout the week.

Yay.

The only game on that list that interests me is Driver 3 and I can easily get it on the PS2 or Xbox, although I really wanted to get it on the GC...

I was planning on getting the PC version, if I get the game...

Why, pray tell, are we supposed to be considered as being "fortunate" to still be getting these games?

Why the PC version? Unless you have a driving wheel the controls won't be nearly as good as they would be with a console controller. No analog steering or acceleration with a mouse & kb.

Joystick!!

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 24th September 2003

Ack, no! Joysticks are crap for racing games. ABF would be better off using his Saitek controller.

More Cube Cancellations - A Black Falcon - 24th September 2003

Yes, two reasons.

1) The PC versions of multiplatform games are invariably cheaper, and drop in price a lot faster

2) Saitek pad is great

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 24th September 2003

The Saitek pad is decent, but not as good as the GC, PS2, or X-Box controller.

More Cube Cancellations - A Black Falcon - 24th September 2003

Well no, but if the price is right I can overlook that... :)

And I played Driver 1 on PC and loved that one.

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

If it had a level editor I'd definitely get the PC version, but console ports rarely ever do.

More Cube Cancellations - A Black Falcon - 25th September 2003

Map editor in Driver? Yeah right!

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

Erm

More Cube Cancellations - Great Rumbler - 25th September 2003

A map editor for Driver 3 would be awesome.

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

Indeed it would be. I don't know why the developers wouldn't want to release one with the game. Sales would definitely increase by quite a bit if people could make their own levels. It'd be cool to make a mini-Hong Kong or San Fran in Driver 3 for my mod development class. :D

It make a city with lots of hills and steep, narrow bridges to maximize air time.

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

A city with lots of steep hills and bridges... hmmm.... if only there were a real city like that.

Haha

More Cube Cancellations - Great Rumbler - 25th September 2003

San Francisco in the first game had steep hills but only one bridge and it wasn't steep or narrow. Miami had steep, narrow bridges, but no hills. I would make a city that had both.

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

The first game couldn't even do curved roads.

More Cube Cancellations - Great Rumbler - 25th September 2003

So? Curved roads are over-rated anyway!

More Cube Cancellations - OB1 - 25th September 2003

But the real cities have curved roads...

More Cube Cancellations - A Black Falcon - 25th September 2003

Who needs curved roads? Silly ostentatious decorations...

And a map editor would be awesome, but quite unlikely.
