Then why do third-party multiconsole games always have faster load times on the X-Box? If there was a real advantage then it would at least be even.

There are PS2 developers with talented enough programmers that have been able to practically eliminate all noticable load times. Look at Naughty Dog, for instance. You never notice a load time in the Jak series. It's because they're good programmers. And Nintendo's are among the best.

XBox sometimes has quicker load times because smart developers use the harddrive to their advantage when they can. I do think the smaller discs helps load times a little, but I don't think the difference is really noticeable.

Right, the load times are usually better on the XB because of the HDD, but if the GC discs did offer a real advantage then they wouldn't be so far behind the XB's in third-party titles.

Good point about Nintendo working closely with other companied to build good relationships. Perhaps Nintendo knows that in the short term its been hit with an end run by both Sony and MS, but in the long run, they hope to build strong relationships with all the major 3rd party companies again, and sometime down the line, suddenly subvert both Sony and MS by getting these companies to favor Nintendo's console and deal them both a long term blow. Realistically, Nintendo while not as big in market share as the other 2 consoles, as a company, it is still the most profitable, the best managed, sells about as well as the SNES (the market really has expanded) and runs plenty of other businesses that will keep them alive for some time.
