Guys are the general target audience of video game companies, and often girls find this sexist, so the theory that more girls would play games if they were aimed towards them more often comes up.

I remember one girl complaining because her little brother wouldn't let her play Game Boy, saying it's for boys only, which is why it's called Game Boy. I believe I read that in Nintendo Power years ago. (Back when I actually subscribed to that piece of crap.)

Erm

What does that have to do with what kinds of games girls like?

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

And of the girls that do play games I am sure that the numbers that like action games are in the minority.

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 13th February 2004

Right, and you know this based off of all the girl gamers that you know. Rolleyes

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

More based on what I hear on the net really...

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 13th February 2004

And we all know how reliable video game dorks on message boards are. Whatever

"Man, Halo kicks ass! Dude, chicks don't like Halo! They like Tetris and shit."

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

Uh, do you seriously think that female gamers like action games just as much as male ones, or are you just being annoying?

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 13th February 2004

Well there's no way to get an exact number, but I've yet to meet a gamer girl who doesn't like action games.

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

Such an accurate way to judge it! :D

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 13th February 2004

Oh but your "ask a bunch of message board people" method is so much better. Rolleyes

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

I wasn't just talking about message board people!

GBA RPGs - The Former DMiller - 13th February 2004

I have yet to meet a girl gamer in real life. I think that's why I don't commit to girls for too long. I want a girl who will do all the things past girlfriends have done and then settle down for a nice game of Double Dash. :)

Late last year I convinced my friend Natalie to buy a Gamecube. She likes sports and action games mostly. All of my other female friends pretty much like the same genres I do.

Then who else? You told me your life is pretty much just online...

GBA RPGs - A Black Falcon - 13th February 2004

I meant like articles from websites and stuff.

Sacred Jellybean Wrote:Before this topic gets completely derailed, I just wanted to show off my whore to etiquette by thanking everyone for their input. I've decided on Fire Emblem. Hopefully, she'll like it... Carrot

So how did she like it? You never told us... :)

GBA RPGs - Sacred Jellybean - 12th January 2005

I never ended up getting her the game, actually. I was short on time and money. She did like the "Teen Girl Squad" shirt I got her, though. I got something else for her, too, but I forget what it was.

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 12th January 2005

GBA RPGs - Sacred Jellybean - 13th January 2005

GBA RPGs - Great Rumbler - 13th January 2005

GBA RPGs - OB1 - 13th January 2005
