What the hell is wrong with you people? Have you not bought this and come here to rave about it's infinite awesomeness?

Seriously, this game's gonna be giving my WaveBirds buttons one hell of a punishing. All the characters look awesome, the weapons look awesome, the stages look awesome, everything looks about ten times better than should be allowed by law. If you haven't bought this yet, buy it now. Go, on get out of this thread, go, get!

And Link kicks ass. Totally and completely.
I played the game and while I'm sure it's a great fighting game, it's not that much an improvement over the first SC and not worth $50 IMO. That and I'm too busy with the king of 3D fighters, VF 4 Evo.

I probably would have gotten SC2 if there weren't around five dozen other games coming out next month that I have to get.
Yeah I just got a call from Gamestop telling me it's in now. I'll be fetchin' it soon enough. I'm sure it'll be fun though I won't have much time to play it.
Hey, I'm one of the coolest people here :D.

OB1, I'm...shocked. A Link fan such as yourself,I figured you'd be first in line. I actually was :D. I got there as they were unloading the truck! I was the first to get the game (well, from that particular GameStop). Let me have my moment.
I'd like to get it, but there's just too many other games that I want to get this year, so I can wait until it becomes a Greatest Hits title (or whatever Nintendo calls them).
I might get it eventually... when the price goes down... but there are just so many games that I should get. Deciding which to actually get is hard...
Stupid yanks.. :(

I doubt I'll be picking it up. We still have fun with the occasional romp of Soul Calibur on the DC. And Virtua Fighter 4 and Tekken 4 get constant use. So I don't really have enough time for SC2.
Hey you bastards got Silent Hill 3 before we did, so up yours!

Yeah, but its like the only game ever that they got first... :)
They got FFX as a GH title like a year before we did.
if i liked fighting games more i might be really excited to go pick this up...unfortunately...i don't.

i will probably get it when the price drops, but it's just not my type of game.

then again, i really liked soul blade, you know, the prequel to soul caliber, and this game seems to contain all the elements that i felt made SB so great, and so much greater than SC...namely the earning new weapons.
You liked Soul Blade more than Soul Calibur?? Eek
I haven't played either of the first two games, just the Soul Calibur 2 demo. :)
Actually, there are a number of people who liked Soul Edge more than Soul Calibur for the reasons that person said. Never played Soul Edge myself though.

In any case, I saw Soul Calibur 2 on all three display systems in a store today, but they unplugged the controllers to keep anyone from PLAYING it, so I could only watch the demos! That was evil.

Neither do I. The only "fighting" game I have in my collection is Melee. But I love it even still. That's why it's so great.

It's one of those games that you don't even need to like the genre to have a blast with it.
I didn't own any fighting games other than the two SSB games until this summer... when I bought Capcom vs SNK 2 EO for Cube for $20 and then Mace: The Dark Age for N64 for $8. :)

Oh yeah, and the SC2 demo is a lot of fun... but then again after for a long time thinking that I didn't like this genre all that much now I know that it can be pretty good.
i'm gonna have an OB1 moment here...

mace? that's not what i would consider to be a "good game"

seriously, you spent 8 whole dollars on it?
Yes indeed, Mace is crap.
Its not great, sure, but better than most of the N64's fighting games...
That's like saying "Yeah I know that this piece of cat feces isn't very good, but it's better than most of the other pieces of poop that I've tried!".
Its a decent game. Oh, I'd played it before I bought it so it's not like I didn't know what I was getting... and it was probably worth $8. It wouldn't be worth much more than that, but for that price its alright. I don't know, its fun enough to hold my interest for a little while every so often... :)
:nono: :shake:
I got Soul Calibur 2 today!! I haven't played it very much yet, but it looks really cool.
Ahh...only my third day with the game, and after a few marathon sessions by myself and with a friend, I've unlocked a ton of stuff, and discovered who my best characters are.

Sophitia

This chick kicks ass! She's speedy on the offensive and uses what she's got as best as she possibly can! Quite possibly my best character.

Raphael

He's a prissy little wimp, but that doesn't put him below shoving his rapier through your spine! En Garde!

Link

Come on, it's a given. Those bombs, that bow, and the Master Sword? No chance! I just wish he had some actual lines.

Voldo

He's got more moves than a breakdancer and he's twice as limber! I never know what's gonna happen when I press buttons.

My four best! Who are yours?
What's wrong with Raphael? I mean, he's like Japan's take on America's latest emotionally charged movies about teen angst and the past, like Gangs of New York. Just look at that scene in the opening FMV, it's so frickin' American movie in that scene!
:erm2:
Between Cassandra and Nightmare... Cassandra, in the alternate green costume. :)

Oh, and does the full version have auto-specials on the C-Stick too?

Finally... why can't you jump???
You can jump, but just like Soul Calibur 1, it's limited to a little hop. It's not like it's unrealistic or anything to only be able to jump a couple feet.
But I like jumping in fighting games... :)
You can jump using R and up. It's tiny, but I've interrupted some of Ivys combos with it.

Meanwhile, I've got a new combo with Sophitia. It's a combination of kicks that takes away about 1/3 of the opponents life if all of her kicks connect. It rocks.
My favorites are Link and Nightmare.

Link becaues he's...well...Link.

Nightmare because he's big and has a huge sword that you can cut guys down with.
I played a lot of the game yesterday over at my friend's house, and while it is a lot of fun I'm glad I didn't buy it. I played Soul Calibur 1 almost everyweek for two straight years so I really got sick of it, and SC2 is very similar to SC1. They even use the same sound effects! I think I'll wait for SC3.
I never had SC1 [I don't know why], so the similarities between the two games won't affect me.
Ah, that makes sense then.
Finally played it. Some friends and I rented it and Mario Golf yesterday. We ended up having to get the XBox version though. Spawn actually fits in the last battle.

There are 10 unlockable weapons for every character, for one thing, and you can pick from any one of them when you select your character in Extra VS Mode. Not sure if that was in SC1 (never owned a DC, and only played one once before) but it certainly spices things up, rather than just fighting one on one with the normal weapons. 8 Man Team Battles are insane!.
That was a feature from Soul Blade.
Indeed, it was the most missed feature of Soul Blade. They combined all the best aspects of Soul Blade and Soul Calibur to make this amazing sequel.

I'm impressed that sometimes an ACTUAL CONVERSATION will happen before or after battle, like Spawn questioning Raphael about Soul Edge (which he's been ordered to collect else he be stuck forever in the past, but when it almost possesses him completely he manages to ditch it on the return trip).
