Quote:Among other announcements at the Games Convention in Germany, it was stated by Nintendo that 1080°: Avalanche will feature LAN capability. Right now the game is said to support up to 8 players, and as with Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Kirby Air Ride, each player may have their own full screen to view the game. The only obstacle being that each TV will need a GameCube, a copy of 1080°: Avalanche, and a Broadband Adaptor.

Also on display at the convention was video of the new upcoming StarFox game being developed by Namco. This also was revealed to feature LAN capability for its' explosive multiplayer mode.

Yay!
About time Nintendo realized people want this kind of stuff. It might be too late for online games, but at least LAN is pretty good.
Online play should be possibly with the LAN games via tunneling.
I recently read on IGN's latest review of the latest Mario Kart build that not only is the game sped up to a tad faster than same karts in MK64, but also that the player number has been increased to 16 players max (via 4 cubes I imagine).

With THIS announcement, it seems that one can now link up to 8 cubes together. A tunnel should indeed eventually be made. Speaking of tunnels, Gamespy REALLy should consider either updating the XBox tunnel or incorporating an updated version directly into the next version of Gamespy. They haven't updated that tunnel at ALL, and it really is annoying because it's VERY glitchy. First off, it's a system resource HOG. You need a very fast computer just to use it, unlike Gamespy itself. Second, it crashes very often. You'll be playing along just fine when suddenly the stupid tunnel will collapse (that's what I call it anyway) and freeze up on you. VERY annoying. To top it all off, it doesn't even bother using word wrapping when typing in the communication window in the tunnel. It just keeps going off the sides and you have to either stretch out the window or just type short sentences. VERY stupid. I certainly hope they fix this. I also certainly hope that if they don't fix it, they don't just alter the code for recognizing and announcing what system it is and give us what's pretty much the same glitchy tunnel for GCN.

Yes there is XBConnect, which is MUCH nicer all around, but there are VERY few games to be found on that compaired to Gamespy unfortunatly. Then again, the only game people even play on Gamespy XBox Tunnel is Halo (there's MAYBE one game of TS2 or Brute Force going on, MAYBE).
Yeah that's good news, especially the part about the MK64 powerslide being brought back. I still hope that they speed up the game even more before release since the tracks are so much wider than they are in MK64 (so it seems slower).
More speed = good.

LAN in 1080 and Star Fox = very good.

But it doesn't solve the problem that F-Zero doesn't have it. :woo:
