Haha, don't you just love my ingenious puns?

*dead silence*

:erm2:

Oh shut up. Anyhow, in today's ign cube rumor section they offered a very interesting theory on why Dead Phoenix hasn't been seen since it was first shown last year, and it makes perfect sense especially when one considers the recent rumor that Capcom is working on a Nintendo franchise.

Quote:One of the initial Capcom titles announced for GameCube was Dead Phoenix, a third-person flight game in which players controlled an angelic, winged man armed to the teeth with massive guns -- and not afraid to use them. The action title looked to take inspiration from some of developer Treasure's classic shooters, except in full 3D and with full freedom of movement. The game has never been shown in playable form and was mysteriously absent from this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo 2003. Even Killer 7 was present on video. The game's producer, who last referred to the title as "Little Phoenix," refused to discuss the reason for the game's absence when questioned at E3. Naturally, none of this bodes well for the game's future. Couple all of the above with reports that Capcom had decided to cancel some of its 2003/2004 games and there's a strong chance that Dead Phoenix is in fact dead.
The other possibility is that it's quietly being transformed into an official Kid Icarus sequel. This, too, would also make sense. The angelic main character would be the perfect fit and the game's dark, edgy style would instantly transform the aged Nintendo franchise into something far more hip. We're keeping our fingers crossed, of course.

Damnit I hope they're right! Kid Icarus is loooooooooooooooooooooong overdue for a sequel.
Kid Icarus would be indeed very cool, but dead seems a bit more likely.

Oh, and why does everyone always insist that Kid Icarus didn't have a sequel when it had one on the Game Boy?
That came out a long time ago, which is why I said that KI is long overdue for a sequel.
then say 'another sequel' or 'a modern sequel'... :)
Hmm, it always had this weird NES mood to it, somewhere between fun and serious. Perhaps this mood should be kept for this game. I wouldn't want KI to become some idiotic thing where everyone is all dark and moody and Pit is some IDIOTIC character type who hates everything but just wants to get the job done (that is the WORST kind of character EVER).
A new Kid Icarus game...that would be cool.
Yeah, I doubt it'll happen here, but eventually a 3rd game, one that ISN'T just the 1st game with a different story and end boss (but everything else is the same) like the GB Kid Icarus, would be GREAT!
Nintendo needs to team up with Square to make Mother 3.
Yeah! Nintendo plus Square made Mario RPG (Paper Mario taking a whole lot from that game as well), so I imagine they would also do great with the new Mother game!

To be honest though, if they get back to the Mother series, I would love for them to see what can be saved (probably just basic design) of the N64 game.
Mother 3 has been confirmed for the GBA, and I doubt that we'll be seeing a console version in the near future. Now all Nintendo has to do is announce Mother 1-3 for a stateside release, damnit!

I also agree that Kid Icarus should not become a dark and serious game. It should definitely have a light feel to it and not become a stupid dark and realistic game (like with what so many Nintendo fans want to happen with all of Nintendo's other franchises).
