Its a old favorite of mine.

Lets just say the rest of you are competing for second place... :D

Oh... its for the Atari ST system. Here's the emulator.

Recommended settings: 32mhz cpu, 4mb memory, standard (color low/med resolution) color setting, and in the 'fullscreen mode' tab be sure to check 'use 640x400 resolution' so the game runs fullscreen and not 640x480 with borders.

Oh. When you run the emulator it'll ask you to set a folder as the hard drive. Create one, preferably, in the emu folder and put the Llamatron files in it... then all you have to do after launching the emulator is click the hdd, the llama1024 file, and it runs.

Well... except for control configuration.

I highly recommend mapping it to your keyboard or gamepad in a way that you use the better, Robotron-style controls -- one pad for movement, other for aiming gun. What I do is, on my gamepad, use the dpad for movement and the 4 main face buttons for aiming... I tried the analog but like digital buttons better.

Here is emulator
and the game. :)
Oh, the emulator needs one of these files as well.

Also... I play the game with one continue (ie when I get game over i take screenshot and stop), with no droid... but until you get better at the game feel free to use all 3 continues and the droid (which makes the game WAY easier). :)
Cowards.

I know by posting this score I'll keep anyone who even thought of trying the game from bothering, but hey... I want to. See, I just got my best score ever... it would have been a lot better, but I got 5-level warps twice (bad if you are going for score because it skips 5 levels and just gives you 50,000) by accident... :(

Still, I got to level 19 of the second playthough (after you beat the 100th, and final, level it starts over, except harder...), with a score of 1,972,374. when I got my first game over (you get three continues, but its harder, but in some ways more rewarding, if you just play with one continue...) Besting my previous best for a one-continue game, which was 1,849,866 in level 99. :)
That game stunk so, so bad... I died (ran out of first continue) at level 70 with 1,097,769 points. Truly pathetic...

Oh, and won't SOMEONE try this game? Its a lot of fun, IMO... so simple, yet fun.

And why did I link the emulated version and not the DOS port? Very, very simple. The DOS port doesn't really have two-joystick firing. The Atari ST emulated one does, and you can map the two axes to whatever buttons you want (just remember to press fire two at the main menu. And don't touch either fire button during the game! For some reason in this version of the game if you do it can really mess it up...)
Let's play a SNES game next.
Win. :D
That game made me confused and angry...
Because its hard? :)

Its Robotron, just more fun...
Quote:Because its hard?

No, I didn't even play the game. I've just been wanting to say that about something for a while now.
Someone play this game. Come on... :)
Well, I just beat my best score by 230,000. For some reason the emulator seemed to be running way faster than usual, making it sorta like Turbo Llamatron... Turbo Llamatron is great. :)
Woah. Another score that blows away my previous best. :D
...
I'd do something new if I didn't know no one would bother to play.
Let's play an N64 rom.
Like what? Most don't have scores...

Oh, do people actually want to play? I would, but no one else seems to really want to... this game would have been good because its freeware (its true, DJ, no legal issues for llamatron...), but oh well.

So any suggestions?
Um...... I dunno.
Mischieif Makers.
And how would we do that? Choose a level or something? Time?
The winner could be the person with the most amount of crystals.
I don't know... maybe... we should try something, anyway.
If you wonder why I don't care.

(BTW, I've been competing in the league there for about 17 weeks now)
What.
Huh.
Quite challenging classic (old classics, mostly...) games league. Much more challenging competion than you guys... :)
I didn't even play your stupid Llama game.
I know, no one cares. That's why I gave up on trying to get people to play...
I'm already falling asleep just thinking about it!
I somehow doubt anyone could fall asleep playing Llamatron, given how action-packed it is... if you're not shooting something then you're probably going to be doing so within a second...
I never played it.
Well SOMEONE should play it. Sure, you'll never catch my score probably, but you should at least try it... anyone who has ever played or liked Robotron or Smash TV would love its gameplay style. :)
I'm too lazy.
Do you like Robotron? If you do you must play this game because it's like Robotron except better, and funny too...
Robotron is pretty fun.
I played Llamatron before I ever played Robotron, and while Robotron is fun it's not nearly as good as Llamatron... at least IMO. :)

General Sephiroth

Hey, Black Falcon!
I registered at this forum just to tell you that Llamatron was one of my favourite games when I was younger... ^_^ LOL!
Um, I'll be going now. Bye! :D
Everyone just likes Robotron because they haven't played Llamatron. It's really much better. :)
I'd play it... but I have to DOWNLOAD all that stuff for it! Too much work... :(
I want SOMEONE to play this game... it's so good...

It's worth it because having dual-joystick control in a game like this is absolutely essential. It's amazing how much better this game is this way because of that... the PC version would be better but it doesn't have definable controls so dual joystick mode doesn't work. :(

But once you get the emulator set up it's easy... just run it and choose the game and it starts up... but I will admit that it's a bit more setup than most emulators. Why? Because it's emulating a computer, not a console.

Be glad that it's not Amiga... ;) (that one I kind of gave up on getting to work well... Atari ST works fine once you do the basic setup. And doesn't have massive numbers of options you need to know...)

That last file (the TOS) isn't something you have to do anything with, BTW -- just put it in the emulator folder and in the settings select it as the TOS. Just like you do with Sega 32X bioses, or PSX, or N64.

Oh yeah.

Use the newest version of the emulator, not that old one linked up there.
